is not keeping the driveway

the house or garage that
must have snow removed in
case rain comes making, the

ham that her brother-in-law,
Ward Shickluna, of Missis-
sauga, husband of the former
Lila Gaunt, sister of the late'
Mr. Andrew Gant, had
died. He had gene to work
and began to feel not well.
He called the plant nurse,
who could find nothing seri-
ous, but , in a short time,
when she returned, she
called an ambulance tp_take
hint to hospital, where he
passed away on arrival, due
to a serious heart attack.
-Attending the funeral from
here were Mr. and Mrs.
Murray Gaunt and Mr. and,
Mrs. Earl Gaunt. The com-
munity extends their sincere
sympathy.
The United, Chutch ladies
last week were busy quilting
a quilt at the home of Mrs.
Agnes Farrier.

MADILL LOSES TO
GOLDEN BEARS
On January 18, the Senior
Mustangs travelled to Sea -
forth for their first road game
of the season. Against. the
much -improved Seaforth
team, the Madill represen-
tatives went down to' defeat,
71 - 54.
•The game started well as
Madill Was awarded. 11 free
throws because of Seaforth's
technical fouls (due to a
mix-up in uniform numbers)
Kevin Cartecjhit on 9 of those
11 "freebies", giving the
Mustangs a 9 point advan-
tage. Unfortunately, „Jet=
there things seethed to go
clow,nbill. Hassled by a
strong zone press Madill had
trouble bringing.the ball out
of their backcourt:. Numerous
turnovers ' cauaed by the
press, and a "hot and cold".
defence that 'resulted, • in
many Seaforth baskets, and
early fent trouble, found the
Mustangs barely Maintain:-
ing a • tied score , at the
quarter.
The Mustangs came out of
the break strongly and fora
while, it looked as if they had
regained their forrn, but a
barrage of poor shots again
put them behind. At the half,
they still held a slim 3 point
lead.
In the second half, Madill'
never really seemed to find
their shooting range and Sea -
forth overpciwered them both
•on theboards and in shooting
percentages. -
, Regardless of their record
this season though, the..Mus-
tangs are not down and out of
• it.. yet. For instance, foul
• shooting has improved from
20% of previous games to

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
On Saturday, January
13th, F. E. Madill held their
first invitational giiis volley-
ball tournament.
• The junior team made
some vast improvements re-
sulting in a good day with
many excellent plays. Along•
with these excellent plays
came <wins over Goderich,
Strathroy and South Huron
(Exeter) They 'were defeated
however, by Stratford Cen-
tral, Stratford Northwestern
and Sir Adam Beck (London),
At „the end of their six
' games, the juniors had made
• their way to 'the semi-finals.
• In the first game of the
semi-finals, Madill lost 2
games to Stratford Central,
which ended their day at the
tournament.
The Madill Seniors took
part in the tournament on
Satordacy also and proved to
have ,had a very successful
day. •
• They, defeated South Hur-
on (Exeter), Listowel, God-
erich, Sir Adam Beck (Lon-
don)., Strathroy and Stratford
