Lions hold fifth dance WROXETER-- Another suc- cessful centennial dance, the fifth, was held on Friday eve- ning in the community hall by the Howick Lions' Club, with a large crowd in attendance. Old time dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by three orchestras, Wallace Bilton's of Gorrie, McIntosh's of Moles- worth and Farrish's, Listowel. Door prizes were won by Sheldon Mann, Gorrie and Mrs. Jim Robinson, Fordwich. Spot dance prize winners were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Alexander of Gowanstown and Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Koepke, Drayton. The best square dance set was won by Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Koepke, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Behrns of Gowanstown, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Simpson, Wallace- ville and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Schneider, Gowanstown. Mr. Ankl...Mrs. Jim Robinson, Ford- wich were judged the best waltzers; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Farrish, Gorrie, were the old- est couple dancing; and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald McMichael, Wroxeter, were the most agile couple. The judges were Mr. and Mrs. Warner Collings and Mr. and Mrs. George Ives, all of Blyth. The Ladies' Auxiliary to the Howick Legion was in charge of the lunch booth. The Lions are discussing the holding of more old time dan- ces in the coming year. Mr. and Mrs, Fraser Haugh and Miss Eileen Haugh visited Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stokes, Gorrie, on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Crandall Ben- son of Syracuse, N,Y., visited Wroxeter Personals Cash donations are requested for next meeting WROXETER-- Mrs. Harvey McMichael and Mrs. Ken Ben- nett were in charge of the Willing Workers meeting held on Tuesday of last week, Mrs. Bennett offered prayer and the Scripture was read by Mrs, Mc- Michael. Mrs. Bennett gave an inter- esting article on "Crossroads of Life" and read a poem, "Jesus Is the Way". Eight members and one visitor answered the roll call with a verse on life. The leader, Mrs. William McLean, conducted the busi- ness. A moment of silence was observed and the 23rd Psalm repeated in memory of Miss Margaret Jardine, who in past years was a member of the group. Arrangements were made for the topic at the December meeting of the C.C. W. The unit meeting will be one week early, December 12. Instead of a gift exchange all members are asked to take donations of money for the needy. Quilting and a pot luck, supper followed the meeting. Saturday with his grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. Richard Ingram and accompanied by them spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Benson and family in Ripley, Mrs, John Gibson is a pa- tient in Wingham and District Hospital but we hope she will be able to return home shortly, Mr. and Mrs. Rick. Wilkins and Shelley of Sarnia were week-end guests with Mrs, Wil- kens' parents, Mr, and Mrs. Art Wheeler. A successful sale was held on Saturday of the household effects of the late Miss Margar- et Jardine, with a good crowd attending.
