Busy afternoon for
Constable Foxton
Constable Doug foxton of
,the Wingham police force was,
kept busy Saturday afternoon
with three investigations, but
one consolation was that he
didn't have to do much travel-
ling to perform his duties,
In the space of an hour and
a half, three mishaps took
place on Josephine Street from
the Ontario Hydro office to the
IGA store,
Shortly after four o'clock,
cars driven by Norman Rintoul
of Shuter Street, Wingharn and
William J. Jamieson of Brussels
collided, causing an estimated
$300 damage. Police said Mr,
Rintoul had slowed for a car
about to park when he was
struck from behind by the Jam-
ieson car. Charges are pending.
About five o'clock cars
driven by Mrs, G.W. Howson
of Wingham and John Stacey
of R. R.2 Wingham collided,
causing minor damage,
While Constable Foxton was
investigating, eight-year-old
Andy Foxton, son of Mrs. Shir-
ley Foxton darted from in
front of the police cruiser into
the side of a ear driven by
Ross E. Willitts of R. R. I Wing-
ham. He was examined by
doctors who found he had es-
caped injury.
Only six attend
minor hockey meet
A meeting for minor hockey
was called for Monday evening
in the arena. Unfortunately
it conflicted with the public
school open house. As a result,
only six people showed up. The
meeting has been rescheduled
for Monday, November 13th at
7,30 p.m., at the arena.
It is hoped that a good turn-
out to support the minor hockey
will show up. Many boys
might be disappointed if there
are not sufficient leaders to
help as coaches, managers and
an association to run their af-
fairs.
On Saturday, November 11
there will be a workout for all
pee wees from 7-9 a.m. at
the arena. Bantams will work-
out from 9-11 a.m. the same
day.
It is hoped that again this
year there will be hockey for
the younger set
The following are the var
ious age brackets: Tyke, under
8 as of June 1st of playing year;
Novice, under 10; Pee Wee,

Corporation
is reviewing
two proposals
A letter from the Ontario
Housing Corporation read at
Monday's council meeting in-
dicated that the corporation is
still working on a plan to build
another senior citizens' apart-
ment in Wingham.
Some months ago the corp-
oration did a housing survey in
the community, which resulted
in a recommendation for a' six-
unit apartment building.
The corporation negotiated
with the town for land, and
wanted to take over a site in
the main street park. Council
did riot concur with the idea of
using park land for housing
purposes.
Following this impasse the
Ontario Housing Corporation
called for proposals from in-
terested contractors.
The letter told council that
two proposals had been receiv-
ed and were being considered
by the corporation. One was
from Shantz and Hicks Ltd. Of
Waterloo and the other from
Headway Corp. of Toronto who
had proposed a 10-unit building
