Presbyterian W. M.S. Thank-
offering meeting was held Wed-
nesday afternoon of last week
in the Sunday School room with
Mrs. Victor Emerson presiding.
She welcomed the guests, mem-
bers of Whitechurch U.C.W.
and the W.M.S. groups of Dun-
gannon and Ashfield.
Mrs. Emerson gave the call
to worship on the theme, "God's
Bounty", for which Mrs. Hugh
Simpson led the responsive
reading of Psalm 103 and Mrs.
Bill Rintoul gave the meditation.
Mrs. Russell Ross read the
minutes and called the roll,
Mrs. Ezra Scholtz sang a solo,
accompanied by Mrs. Johnston
Conn, and Mrs. Ross led fh
prayer.
Mrs. Emerson introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Robert
Campbell of Wingham. She
spoke on the faith of our ances-
tors as shown by the Jesuit
priests who came to Fort St.
Marie at Midland. "How do we
stand up to the measurements
of our fathers?" Mrs. Campbell
asked. Expo 67 shows the
power and the will of man.
What will we stand for in an-
other 100 years?
King Josiah of Bible times
did what was right even though
his father did evil. The scrolls
from which the Bible was writ-
ten were found in the temple.
God's word is the same today
as it was in King Josiah's time.
Mrs. Campbell said that actions
speak louder than words and we
must watch that our actions
are dedicated to God.
Mrs. Bill Evans thanked the
speaker and presented her with
a gift.
Mrs. Lulu Jones and Mrs.
Wallace Wilson of the Dungan-
non W.M.S. sang "Looking in
the Face of Jesus", with Mrs.
W.S. Reid as pianist. Mrs.
William Purdon and Mrs.
Archie Purdon received the of-
fering, which was dedicated
by Mrs. Wallace Conn. Mrs.
Don Ross played "Beyond the
Sunset" as a piano solo. Silent
prayer was offered for the sick.
Mrs. Emerson gave the clos-
ing prayer and mixed the mem-
bers of the groups for lunch.

wedding reception on Sunday of

were around 30 in attendance.

his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Don-

U.C.W. entertains
for patients of
Ontario Hospital
WHITECHURCH-- On Tues-
day evening Calvin-Brick U.C.
W. went to the Ontario Hosp- •
ital at Goderich where they put
on a program for the patients.
Rev. J. Roberts was chair-
man. Judy and Cathy Chandler
played numbers on the recorders,
Joyce and Brenda Coultes de-
lighted all with baton twirling.
The mouth organ band of
Gordon McBurney, Calvin and
Ross Robinson and Albert Bie-
man, accompanied by Alex
Robertson with the banjo and
Mrs. Norman Coultes as pianist,
played several selections.
Joyce Coultes did the Charles-
ton.
Contests were held and Rev.
Roberts gave a short message.
A trio, Joyce, Brenda and Doris
Coultes gave numbers and Rev.
Roberts sang a solo.
Mrs. Norman Coultes gave a
reading. A square dance was
formed and games were con-
ducted by the leader, Mrs. Gor-
don McBurney.
Couple leaving
for Hamilton
FORDWICH-- Mr. and Mrs.
Blake Fleet were pleasantly
surprised when 2nd line neigh-
bours and friends and former
neighbours, gathered at their
home to say farewell before
they leave to make their future
residence in Hamilton. Mr,
and Mrs. Fleet have sold their
farm to Mr. and Mrs. Grose of
Listowel.
During the evening 'a social
time was spent after which they
were presented with door
chimes and a cup and saucer,
for which they thanked every-
one and lunch was served,
