Alexander Taylor dies in hospital GORRIE—The community was saddened to learn of the passing on Thursday morning, October 5, at the Wingham and District Hospital of Alfred Alex- ander Taylor. A son of the late R. A. Tay- lor and Isabella Carson, he was born on Lot 6, Con. 15 Howick on July 28th, 1902. When a child he moved with his parents to Wingham where he received his education. Except for a few years spent in Detroit and Lon- don, he has resided on the fam- ily farm on Con. 15, Howick, where he was well known. In 1932 he was married to Ellen A. He was a member of Gorrie United Church. Although in frail health for many years, and unable to take part in any church or community activities, he was keenly interested and his quiet humour and loving dis- position endeared him to his family and friends. The funeral service was held from the Moir funeral home, Gorrie, on Saturday afternoon, to the family plot in Gorrie Cemetery. His pastor, Rev. Ronald Sweeney, conducted the service. Pallbearers were friends of the deceased, Victor Shera, Emerson Shera, Carl Nickel, Lionel Johnston, Stan- ley Hays and Hector Hamilton. J. S. This power loss in modern vehicles is dangerous in today's traffic conditions when acceleration for lane chang- ing and passing transports is a continuous part of highway travel. What causes the loss? The greatest single source is usually electrical. Plugs and points fouled with carbon impede the flow of the spark that fires the gasoline explosions in the cylinders. The timing of the spark is thrown off so that the power from the combustion does not deliver its full thrust, despite the consumption of greater quantities of fuel. A plugged air filter is almost as common a fault in untuned engines however. An engine developing 250 horse- power consumes about 400 cubic feet of air per minute. The carburetor measures the exact amount of air required for the vaporization of the gasoline, but there must be sufficient air as required or power and fuel economy loss results. In each mile of driving, each spark plug fires more than a thousand times; the distributor points open and close about 8,000 times and fuel pump pulsates about a thousand times.7. Depending on the type of driving you have been doing. the mechanism of your engine needs cleaning and readjust- ment every 5 to 10 thousand miles to maintain its power and economy. 0......110.11•1.0•.10.1...1111.0......
