of "Get Smart", and best com-

who accepted her award tear-
fully. She defeated Agnes
Moorehead and Elizabeth Mont-

Mario Thomas of "That Girl".
Supporting actor and actress in
comedy roles, were Don Knotts
and Francis Bavier, both of The

Williams took the award for
best series, defeating such
greats as Dean Martin, Jackie
Gleason, the Smothers Brothers,
The Tonight Show, and "Holly-
wood Palace% The best var-
iety special was Sid Caesar and
his production with Imogene
Coco, Carl. Reiner, Howard
Morris. This, it seems to me,
belongs more in the comedy
class, and some fine variety
shows missed out because of it
being classed in that category—
shows like the Look at Negro
Humour with Sammy Davis Jr.,
Harry Belafonte, and Sidney
Poitier; the Bob Hope Christmas
Special; and the Dick Van Dyke
Special.
The top musical show was
"Brigadoon”, a real feather in
the cap of Bob Goulet who star-
red in the show and was one of
the reasons why it was so great.
It defeated "Toscanini: The
Maestro Revisited", and "Frank
Sinatra - A Man and His Music';
so Bob won't even be able to
find a cap that fits his swelled
head, let alone a feather for it!
Best children's program, de-
feating all the Charlie Brown
epics, was "Jack and the Bean-
stock'', which was directed by
dancer Gene Kelly.
On the dramatic side of your
television screen, few shows
that we saw took awards. Nam-
ed best dramatic series was
"Mission; Impossible", and its
star, Barbara Bain took the 'best
actress in a dramatic series'
award. Among those she de-
feated was the ever-lovely Bar-
bara Stanwyck of "Big Valley".
Named best actor in a dramatic
series was Negro star Bill Cosby
of "I Spy". He edged out his
co-star Robert. Culp, and David
Janssen of "The Fugitive",

Pee Wees win
opener 15-9
The Wingham Pee Wees
played their home opener last
Thursday defeating Lucknow
15-9.
Lucknow built up an early
9-3 lead but the locals bounced
back with twelve runs in the
final three frames to gain the
victory in their first start of the
1967 season,
It was a wide open game all
the way with both teams show-
ing it was the first game of the
season.
Donnie Murray pitched shut-
out ball in relief of Tommy
Lee, the last three innings, al-
lowing only two hits while fan-
ning four,
Bob Hall was Lucknow's top
hitter with a home run, a triple
and a single. Wayne Pritchard
collected a double and a pair of
singles for the visitors,
Bobby LaRose paced the
Wingham batters with four
singles while Tommy Lee and
Bill Brown added a pair of hits
each.

among others.
The best single dramatic
production was "Death of a
Salesman". Award for out-
standing performance by an
actress in a single production
went to Geraldine Paige who
starred in an "ABC Stage '67"
production. This left both
Lynn Fontanne and Julie Harris,
who starred in "Anastasia" - a
Hallmark Hall of Fame produc-
tion, crying the blues. Best ac-
tor in a single production was
Peter Ustinov who starred in a
Hallmark Hall of Fame Produc-
tion entitled "Barefoot in Ath-
ens". Best supporting actor was
Eli Wallach in the special "The
Poppy Is Also a Flower", and if
Agnes Moorehead was crying
because she lost the best act-
ress' award, she was consoled
with the supporting dramatic
award for her work in a "Wild
Wild West" segment.

The Goodyears came out on
top in a very hard-fought 2-0
ball game against Lucknow last
Thursday night in Wingham,
Jim Bath, with a double and a
single and Bob Foxton with a
double, led the hitting for the
Goodyears.
The two Lucknow pitchers
Nicholson and Chisholm (6th)
with Baker catching, allowed 4
hits while the Wingharn battery
Lynne Pocock, formerly
Lynne Godwin, and her husband
Wilfred Pocock of the Gait Fig-
ure Skating Club attained the
highest goal of achievement in
their figure skating careers by
successfully passing the Gold
Dance Test and Gold Free
Dance this past week-end, re-
ceiving a Gold Medal in figure
skating.
Lynne has been a member of
the Galt F.S.C. for the past 12
years and during that time she
held the titles of novice, jun-
ior and senior ladies' champion
and club dance champion,
Wilfred's skating career
started in his hometown of
Wingham and he was also an
active member of the Actors,
Georgetown and Preston F.S.
Clubs before he joined the Galt
F.S.C.
Lynne and Wilf met at a
skating competition in Fort Erie
in the winter of 1963 and later
teamed up to compete in dance
competitions. Romance soon
entered into the picture and
they decided to make a per-
manent team and were married
in September of 1965.
Their first sight of success
came when they were runners-
up in the 1966 Western Ontario
Senior Dance Championship at
Windsor. In the summer of the
same year they were the win-
ners of the W. 0. Summer Invi-
tational Free Dance Champion-
ship at Niagara Falls and were
runners-up in the Gold Dance
Championship. The highlight
of their competition record was
when they won the 1967 West-
ern Ontario Senior Dance Com-
petition which was held in Kit-
chener and were competitors in
consisting of Bill Hotchkiss, who
struck out 6 batters and allowed
three hits, and Gary Zuber corn-
ing in in the sixth inning gave.
up no hits and struck out two.
Bob Foxton went all the way in
the catching department for
Wingham.
Ken Saxton Jr. scored the
first run in the third inning and
Bob Foxton scored in the fifth to
end the scoring for the night.
the Canadian Figure Skating
Championships in Toronto.
They are turning professional
this summer and are looking for
to teaching at the Grand
Valley Skating School in Galt.
They will also be teaching at
the Paris F.S.C. and the Wood-
stock F.S.C. next winter.
