R. 2 Wroxeter, last Wednesday night at a pre- sentation and euchre at the community hall. Mr. Hupfer was the recipient of a chair and hassock. An address from the patrons thanking him for his "many good deeds" was read by Mrs, George Gibson and Wroxeter Postmaster Jack Clarke pre- sented the gift. Mr. ands Mrs. Vernon Hup- fer, Mrs. Kate Griffith, Mr, Allan Griffith, Mr, John Hup- Honor retired mail courier WROXETER--A social eve- ning and progressive euchre were enjoyed in Wroxeter community hall on the evening of April 26, in honor of Mr. John Hupfer, R,R, 2 Wroxeter mail courier for the past 40 years, who re- signed the end of March. A number of his patrons along the 22-mile route were in attendance and during the eve- ning a tribute to Mr. Hupfer was read by a neighbour and patron, Mrs. George Gibson, He was presented with a lovely occasional chair, footstool and gift of money by Postmaster Jack Clarke and his wife, Hel- en, Mr. Hupfer expressed his thanks and deep appreciation for this thoughtful gift. Crop report A small acreage of cereal grains was sown during the lat- ter part of April; however, show- ers continue to hold up general seeding. Some grain corn has been planted in the southern part of Huron County. Winter wheat, hays and pas- tures require more warmth to boost growth. There is an abundance of soil moisture for all crops. Teachers reject salary scale Tiic ...gular meeting of the Turnberry Twp. School Area was held at Turnberry Central School on April 20th, Cones- pondence was read from the Teachers' Federation, Ontario Trustees Association and the staff from Turnberry Central. A letter was received from the teaching staff stating that they rejected the board's offer regarding salaries and were calling in the Ontario Teachers' Federation. Some time was spent dis- cussing the mill rate for 1967 and the board decided that at least two mills would have to be added to take care of sal- aries. The Music Festival will take place on May 19th and the us- ual prizes will be given. The following bills were passed for payment: Teachers' salaries, Receiver-General, bus drivers' salaries; Crawford Motors $399.59; Ditto of Can- ada, $56.75; Imperial Oil, $663.22; telephone, $11.44; Alexander Hardware, $9,95; Hodgins and MacDonald, 52,52; Pattison's Electric, $9.30; Armstrong Chemicals, $11.97; Andy Pocaluyka, $2.00. Summer assistant for 4-H program John Murphy, 23, from Lind- say in Victoria County, will be helping with the 4-H Club work this summer in Huron County. John has attended Xemptvil- Ie Agricultural School for one year and has just completed his first year at the Ontario Agri- cultural College, Guelph, in the Degree Program. His experience in 4-H work will help him greatly with the 4-H program as he has com- pleted 23 projects of his own. John has also been quite active in Junior Farmer work in his home county. Last summer he worked in Frontenat County as a summer assistant. We welcome John to Huron County and we are sure he will contribute greatly to the 4-H program during the summer months. Kairos meets A meeting of the Huron Pres- bytery Kairos was held in the Auburn United Church on. Sattkx, clay, guy McAsh of Varna, vice-president, was in charge. The worship service was con-, ducted by Miss Gloria Rtnnball, Clinton, Miss Gwen McDowell, burn, introduced the guest speaker. Rev. M. Roberts of Auburn United Church who showed slides illustrating his work with the Methodist Mis, sion in Argentina, Gary McAsh expressed thanks to Rev. Mrs, Aylmer Hart and Cheryl of Brussels visited Sunday with Mr, John Hupfer and Miss Hazel Sparling.
