Mrs. Garnard King
F ORDW ICH —Funeral service
was held at the Moir funeral
home in Gorrie on April 18 for
Mrs. Garnard King of Fordwich,
who died in Palmerston Hospi-
tal on April 16 after a long ill-
ness. Rev. H, D. Jenkins con-
ducted the service and burial in
Fordwich Cemetery.
Mrs. King was 6/. She was
the former Elva Adeline Mc-
Minn, daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. James McMinn. She
was born in Wiarton, October
20, 1899.
.On February 10, 1926, she
was married to Garnard King in
Fordwich. She was a member
of Trinity Anglican Church.
She is survived by her hus-
band, four sons and two daugh-
ters, John and Donald of Ford-
wich, Jim and Bernald of Har-
riston, Mrs. John (Irene) Han-
nah of Harriston and Mrs. Ray-
mond (Audrey) Baylor of Ford-
wich. There are 16 grand-
children and five great-grand-
children, and a sister, Miss
Pearl McMinn of Toronto.
She was predeceased by a
brother, John McMinn.

Little Hilda deBoer remained in
St. Joseph's Hospital to havethe
cataract on the other eye slit.
She will be a patient there for
two weeks, The community
wishes Hilda a speedy recovery.

the farm of Mrs. Edward New-
ton on Con. 12, Ilowick Town-
ship. Mr. and Mrs. Yoder and
family have arrived from the

Howick has bought the farm of
Mrs. Harry King on Highway 81,
near Gorrie, and has taken pos-
session.

Knox College
WHITECHURCH—Mr, and
Mrs. Donald Watt, Robert, Don-
ald and Norman went to Toron-
to on Tuesday of last week for
Mr, Watt's graduation at Knox
College. He is also a graduate
of the University of British Co-
lumbia.
They spent the evening with
his brother, Robert Watt and
Mrs. Watt of Toronto and re-
turned home on Wednesday.
The community extends con-
gratulations to Mr. Watt on his
graduation.

Ross received word last week
that her brother, Mr. George
Mirehouse of Langdon, N.D.,
in his 94th year, was in hospi-
tal suffering from pneumonia.
The Mirehouse home was on
the 2nd Con., Kinloss.
Kenneth visited Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Gilmore, of Listowel, on
Sunday.

of Toronto spent the week-end
with Mr. Robt, Dane.

ton Hubbard were honored at a
presentation at their home on
Saturday evening by friends and
neighbors. They received a
pole lamp. The evening was

Fraser Haugh were pleasantly
surprised on Saturday evening
when members of their family,
brothers and sisters gathered at
their home to honor them on
the occasion of their 35th wed-
ding anniversary.
Hugh Fraser Haugh, son of
Mr. and Mrs. William Haugh,
Turnberry, and Eva Isabel
Stokes, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. James Stokes of Belmore,
were united in marriage by the
Rev. Alexander Forbes, D. D. ,
in Teeswater Presbyterian manse
on April 2'7, 1932.
They have a family of five
daughters, Mrs. Jas. (Isabel)
Darling of Belmore, Mrs. Car-
man (Wilma) Nixon of London,
Mrs. Arnold (Joyce) Noble of
Maryhill, Mrs. Wesley (Alber-
ta) Newton Jr. of W Ingham and
Miss Eileen at home. They al-
so have 13 grandchildren,

of the marriage of Miss Betty,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Griffiths, of Montreal, to Mr.
Ira S. Rote, son of Mr. and Mrs,
Harry Rote, of Regina, Sask.
Rev. Phillip Hewitt performed
the ceremony at the Unitarian
Church in Vancouver on No-
vember 11, 1966. The couple
reside in Vancouver. The bride
has spent many summers in Blue-
vale at the family's summer
home. Her great grandfather,
William Sanderson, was one of
the early settlers.
Mr. and Mrs. George Heth-
erington attended the funeral
service for Mr. Arthur Hodgins
at Teeswater on Wednesday.

Judge Ian MacRae
born at Lochalsh
Ian MacRae, 64, judge of
Middlesex County since 1949,
died Sunday night at his home,
Grosvenor St., London.
Funeral service was held at
new St. James Presbyterian
Church in London with burial in
Lochalsh Burying Ground, Ash-
field Township, on Wednesday
morning,
Born in Lochalsh, near Luck-
now, he received his early edu-
cation in Lucknow Public
School and Wingham High
School. He graduated from Os-
goode Hall in 1926 and after his
call to the bar the same year
moved to Strathroy to establish
a practice. Mr. MacRae mov-
ed to London several years ago
and in 1941 was appointed dep-
uty police magistrate under
Magistrate Donald B. Menzies.
He presided in London, Strath-
roy, Lucan and Glencoe magis-
trate's courts.
He became junior judge of
Middlesex in May, 1946 and on
the death of Judge Joseph Wear-
ing in 1947, carried on as act-
ing judge until July 1949, when
he was sworn in as judge of Mid-
dlesex.
Judge MacRae is survived by
his wife, the former Winifred
Elliott; and two brothers, Dun-
can of London and James of Tots-
onto.
