Mrs. Olive Boss was re-
elected president of the Wing-

Salvation Army
about to launch
Red Shield appeal
May 1st is an important day
in Wingham and especially so
in homes that have less than
their share of worldly goods, or
more then their share of trouble
and unhappiness, for May 1st
marks the start of The Salva-
tion Army's Red Shield cam-
paign. The money you provide
out of your abundance will go
to even up the score, smooth
the sorrow, and ease the load of
others who might become des-
perate.
And don't let that word
'abundance' bother you. Maybe
you don't know which model of
car to buy this spring, or wheth-
er to buy a nylon or wool rug
for your living room. Yet you
are thinking of one aren't you?
That alone would spell abun-
dance to many who are living
on the edge of sanity...who
need the helping hand and gen-
tle counsel of The Salvation Ar-
my's trained workers. Share
what you have, what you take
for granted, through the Red
Shield. Help that Shield cover
with protection and relief those
whose need is great. Share
what you have with others, and
enjoy a greater satisfaction and
warmth from what you have left.
Captain Ferris of the local
Salvation Army asks once again
for your support when the can-
vasser calls at your door. Mon-
day, May 15th, in the evening,
a blitz will be conducted in
Wingham.
Volunteer canvassers are
needed for this worthy project,
and you are asked to contact
Captain Ferris if you desire to
be part of this great undertak-
ing. Please phone 357-1951,
