Rev. R. Sweeney's text was
"Lo, he was gone". He said
Paul was concerned that his fol-
lowers should have concern for
others. Jesus being concerned
for others, died on the cross.
Men made responsible as guards,
fail because they are too busy,
and their prisoners escape. Al-
mighty God, the highest au-
thority, makes us responsible for
better things and put us in each
other's keeping.
In Christian life we are stew-
ards of God's manifold graces.
Stewards do not hoard, but in-
vest and multiply. The gospel
responsibility should tug at our
hearts. What can God say to
us if we bring no souls into his
keeping? The kingdom of God
moves slowly, one by one, in
gaining souls. "Ate we so busy
that we can't bring any souls to
God?" Mr. Sweeney asked.
