THURSDAY NIGHT"
MIXED LEAGUE
There seems to be a very
tight race going on for the men's
high average this year. For the
past two years Mac Ritchie has
had a monopoly on it. Thies
year Wayne Brown seems to be
giving him a bit of competi-
tion. After this week's bowl-
ing Wayne has a 228 average
and Mac is close behind with
227. I'll keep you posted as to
the outcome. (Does anybody
want to lay any bets?)
There were six spares who
helped us out tonight, namely:
Leota King, Eileen and Monty
Bennett, Muriel and Mac Sew-
ers and Bill Stephenson, Thanks
again spares!
Sharon Jones won the ladies'
high single with 243 and the
triple with a 599. (No, that's
not a misprin,t,,B.).
Mac Ritchie had a terrific
340 to win the men's high sin-
gle. As usual, Wayne 13rown
was close behind him with a
322. Wayne came through with
the high triple, a very good
820. See what I mean about
those two?
Here are the standings: El-
wood's Peaches 54, Paul's
Plums 50, Bob's Bananas 45,
Stew's Prunes 44, Frank's Figs
42, and Bob's Blueberries 38.
Next week is the annualtur-
key bowl, so we should have
all of our regular bowlers out
that night.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
LADIES' LEAGUE
Verna's Violets were all in
fine trim this week taking 7
points to give them a good lead
for first place on a total of 66
points. Helen's Hyacinths are
following behind in second
place. They took all 7 points
giving them a total of 56.
Louise's Lillies are in third
place with no gain this week so
they still have 51, Audrey's Aa•
ters in fourth place, taking 3
points, now have a total of 38 -
and Marg's Marigolds, fifth, still
have 36. Dorothy's Daisies are
sixth but gained four points
for a change and now have a
total of 26 points.
Sharon Jones had a single of
324 and a triple of '734 taking a
turkey for the high triple. Shir-
ley Storey rolled a single of
,292 and she too, took her
'Christmas dinner home. Marie
Lavergne won a turkey with the
hidden score for the Lillies.
Turkeys were won by Marg
Machan of the Daisies, Hilda
Brown of the Violets, Laura
Richardson of the Asters, Lyle
Hickey of the Marigolds and
Elva Watke of the Hyacinths
and Mars. Moffatt won the tur-
key for the draw.

MEN'S LEAGUE
The guys were hot on Mon-
clay night as the 300 mark was
topped seven times with Bob
Foxton's 354 being the high for
the night. Only twelve points
separate the top and bottom
teams as compared with fifteen
the week previous. The bot-
tom team, the Boilermakers,
just narrowly missed taking all
seven when they lost the sec-
ond game by seven pins. Matt
Boyd rolled a sizzling 905 tri-
ple, just missing the head pin
with his final ball in the third
game, and a chance to beat
the season's high triple of 907
held by Ken Saxton Jr.
Some of the better games
rolled Monday night were: Ken
Saxton Jr. 250, 293, and a774
triple; Matt Boyd 298, 306,
301 and 905 triple; Gary Storey
265 and a 707 triple; Bob Fox-
ton 354 and a 720 triple; Ross
Gordon 264, 304 and a 770 tri-

ial Saturday night events was
held at the Wingham Curling

Cubs to hold
Christmas party
The Wingham Cubs met on
Thursday in the United Church
gymnasium with 26 in attend-
ance. The opening exercises
were taken by Kim. Inspection
of the pack followed with some
of the Sixes losing a number of
points due to lack of cleanli-
ness and absence of Cubs.
Kim and Kaa gave the boys
some stimulating exercises.
Each leader then took certain
Cubs into their respective
groups for instruction on the
Star on which they are working.
Kaa told another chapter in
the Adventures of Mowgli.
Scout leader Don Rintoul was in
attendance and presented an
animated Christmas story which
everyone enjoyed.
The next meeting will be
the Christmas party and each
boy is to take a small gaily
wrapped gift to exchange. The
green Six received the most
points for the evening.
