Rev. Dr, G. K. McMillan,
president of Hamilton Confer-
ence, United Church of Can-
ada. spoke of the value of pub-
lic worship when he addressed
Bruce Presbytery at Pine River
United Church, The lack of
worship may cause mental
breakdowns, he said, To lead
in well ordered worship is very
worthwhile. "Visits to psychol-
ogists started when people stop-
ped repeating the twenty-third
Psalm", he said. With regard
to the possibility of the United
Church having bishops, Dr.Mc-
Millan said that the authority of
such bishops would be subject to
the church's present system of
church government.
Dr. McMillan said that
many today want to serve in a
specialized way, such as in
social service work. Through
preaching, every minister can
pour life blood into his congre-
gation.
"This is progress," said Ev-
erett Smith, regional director
for radio and television of Lon-
don-Hamilton Conferences, as
Bruce Presbytery
held meeting at
Pine River church
