YOUTH GROUPS HOLD MEETING GORRIE—The Messengers, Explorers and Tyros met Thurs- day afternoon in the Gorrie United Church with 36 attend- ing. The leaders for the Messen- gers are Mrs. Robt. Stephens; assistant, Mrs. Laverne Schenk; treas. , Mrs. Robt. Strong; asst., Mrs. Robt. Hastie; Explorers, Mrs. R. M. Sweeney. The new study will be on Canada, "Blazing Trails in Canada" and " Stories for Can- ada's Birthday'. Willis as guest speaker and for him. Mr. and Mrs. Clark John- ston and Mrs. Ken Scott of East Wawanosh Twp. spent Sunday in London at Victoria Hospital with his mother, Mrs. Charles Johnston, who recently under- went surgery. After spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin and Mr. and Mrs. Russel Ritchie, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Procter left on Monday for their home in Livonia, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. RonaidJamie- son and family visited on Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Lansley Magoffin and family, of Lon- don. Hold Service at Hamrick Central FORDWICH—On Thursday af- ternoon a very impressive Re- membrance Day service was held in the auditorium of How- ick Central School with mem- bers of Legion Branch 307 and the Ladies' Auxiliary attending. The junior classes and their teachers had the first service at 2 p.m., when Rev. W. C. Par- rott spoke to the children. At 2,30 the seniors and their teachers were addressed by Rev. John Brush. A reading by a senior boy, Rickey Clarke, Why We Wear a Poppy" was very well given. A representa- tive from each class went to the front and pinned a poppy at the foot of the cenotaph. Bruce Robertson, the princi- pal, is to be congratulated on such a fine effort. Nephew Killed In Accident WHITECHURCH—On Mon- day Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weber attended the funeral of his nep- hew, Mr. Bill Hosfeldt of Kit- chener. The funeral was held at Walkerton with burial in Douglas Hill Cemetery. The late Mr. Hosfeldt and other workmen had been sent by plane to Newfoundland by their company and arrived there Wednesday afternoon. While completing their journey by jeep they had an accident with the result that Mr. Hosfeldt was killed at the scene of the ac- cident, and another compan.i ion died the next day. He is survived by his wife and a daughter. Armistice Is Meeting Theme FORDWICH—Trinity W.A. met at the home of Mrs. Emer- son Ferguson with 10 members and three visitors present. The devotions were led by Mrs. El- sie Strong. Rev. H. Jenkins bead the Scripture and the roll all was a verse from Proverbs. The bulletins were read. Mrs. Ruby Foster read "Life's Unknown Soldier", with the Armistice in mind. Mrs. E. Hargrave gave a reading on the life of St. Andrew. Rev. Jenkins gave an intro- duction to the new study book and read a letter from a Ger- man prisoner of war to his wife, written just before he was hanged. Members were reminded of the bazaar and that church cal- endars are for sale. It was de- cided to buy two crokinole boards for the nursing home. A donation was voted to the church treasury. The rector, Rev. H. D. Jenkins, will be inducted into the three parishes on Tuesday November 29 at 8 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Ford- wich. The meeting closed with prayer and lunch was serv- ed by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Stan Forester. A well-adjusted person is one who makes the same mis- take twice without getting ner- vous.
