evening the United Church
Messengers and their leaders,
Mrs. Dave Gibb and Mrs. El-
met Sleightholm, entertained '

lowe'en decorated Sunday
School room.
The judges for costumes
were Mrs. George McGee, Mrs.,
Albert Coates and Mrs. Victor
Emerson. The best dressed
Hallowe'en boy was Robert Watt,
and best dressed Hallowe'en
girl, Debbie Reynolds; comic,
Helen Chandler; best Hallowe'
en costume for preschoolers,
Mary Ann Ritchie but all in this
class received a gift..
The judges found it hard to
make decisions as there were
around 60 children in attend-
ance and the costumes were ex-
cellent.
The call to worship was giv-
en by Mrs. Dave Gibb. The
Scripture was read by Charles
Thompson. Cathy Soloman led
in prayer.
The guest speaker, Mr. Bis-
sett of Goderich, was introduc-
ed by Mrs. Dave Gibb. Mr.
Bisset has spent three weeks
each winter in the West Indies.
He had many beautiful slides of
Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia
and Bermuda islands and gave a
very interesting commentary on
each.
Mr. Bissett was thanked by
Mrs. Sleightholm and Janet
Sleightholm presented him with
a gift,
The offering was received by
Janet Sleightholm and Barbara
Ritchie and dedicated by Earl
Thompson. The closing prayer
was given by Rev. George Mit-
chell. ,
The U.C.W. served lunch.

Gorrie last Friday afternoon at the muni-
cipality's attractive new business offices.
Among those present for the occasion were,

GORRIE—Over 50 friends
gathered at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Melvin C. Taylor,
R. R. 1 Gorrie to offer good
wishes on the occasion of their
25th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were
married Oct. 25, 1941, at the
home of the bride's parents.
Mrs. Taylor was the former
Margaret Thompson. Rev. Mr.
Johnston of Fordwich United
Church performed the cere-
mony.
The couple have four child-
ren; Donald, attending Guelph
University; Ruth Ann and Jim
attending Wingham District
High School; and Allan at How-
ick Central.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor take an
active interest in community
affairs.

Saturday. Robbie and Billie
Toth, who had been staying
with their grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. John L. Currie, ac-
companied their parents to
their new home at Windsor.

The Y.P.S. held a record
hop in the Whitechurch Com-
munity Memorial Hall. A large
crowd attended and Mr. Garry
Koyle supplied the music with
his record player.
Mr, and Mrs. Albert Coultes
visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Wilbert Schwichtenberg
and family of Port Elgin.
Mr. Garry Chapman of Harn-
ilton spent the week-end with
his patents, Mr, and Mrs. Rus-
sel Chapman.
On Friday Mr. Harold Con.

were presented with a transistor
radio from the family and a
pole lamp from friends in at-
tendance, Those from a dist-
ance attending were Mr. and
Mrs. Thos. Edgar and Lynn, St,
Thomas, Bill Taylor of Milton,
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Walker and
Brian of Brampton, Bob Skid-
more, Toronto, and Donald
Taylor of Guelph.
On Sunday afternoon neigh-
bors from Highway 87 gathered
at the same home and presented
Mr. and Mrs, Taylor with d
decorator clock. They were
again pleasantly surprised when
a handsome bridge table and
chairs arrived from Mrs. Tay-
lor's brother and family in Tex-

Good wishes were extended
by all that many more happy
years together would be enjoy-
ed by the recipients.

on Sunday took Mrs. Gibson
Gillespie to Grand Bend where
she was met by Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Gillespie of Sarnia. Mrs.
Gillespie will spend several
weeks with them in Sarnia.
Preparatory service will be
held at 8.30 Friday evening in
Langside Church. Communion
service will be held Sunday in
Chalmers Church at 11 a.m.
Sunday school will be as usual
at 10 a.m.
Mrs. George Tiffin of Luck-
now visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin.
Relatives injured
In Car Accident
WHITECHURCH—Mrs. Bill
Evans on Tuesday received
word from Sutton, in Ashfield,
England that a brother, Geof-
frey Evans, her sister and hus-
band, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Shaw and Rose Dove had suffer-
ed bruises, broken bones and
lacerations in a car accident
and that her brother-in-law,
Mr. Shaw was seriously hurt.
On Thursday she received word
that Mr. Shaw had passed
away.
It was in September that Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Evans spent a
most enjoyable three weeks'
visit with their relatives.
The community extends sin-
cere sympathy to Mr. and Mrs.
Evans and best wishes for the
speedy recovery of the other
relatives.

Died on Sunday
WHITECHURCH--Word was
received here Sunday evening
by Mrs. James McInnes that
Mrs. Billie McInnes, formerly
Lexy Kennedy, died in Bruce
County Hospital, Walkerton
Sunday afternoon. The funeral
was at Walkerton with burial at
South Kinloss Cemetery on
Tuesday,
The sympathy of the com-
munity is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. James McInnes, Mr. and
Mrs. Orville Tiffin, Mrs. Al-
bert McQuillan and other rela-
tives.
