WHITECHURCH—Members
of the Whitechurch Water Sys-
tem held a meeting on Thurs-
day evening at the home of
Mrs. Albert McQuillan. The
president, Victor Emerson, pre-
sided.
The minutes were read by
Mrs. Emerson and Elwood Gros-
korth, treasurer, sent a state-
ment which showed a balance
of $658.70.
Mrs. H. D. MacDonald was
thanked for spraying weeds at
the pump house property. Those
present did not complain too
much about the rust in the wa-
ter.
The question of a signal
light was discussed and.informa-
don on price will be obtained
before proceeding.
Victor Emerson and Wesley
Tiffin offered to put up the
stakes and cover shut-off valves
at each member's residence
before winter. It was agreed
to see about investing some of
the money in Canada Savings
Bonds. The next meeting will
be held in April at the home of
Mrs. Albert McQuillan.

Sees Pictures
BELMORE—Members of 'die
MacBel Friendship Club met in
the basement of McIntosh
Church on Tuesday evening of
last week for its regular meet-
ing. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dus-
tow were conveners, and con-
ducted a short devotional at the
beginning of the evening.
Orval Douglas of Clifford
was guest speaker and showed
pictures of his trip to Western
Canada, Western United States,
and Mexico. Lunch was served
at the close of the evening.

Visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Percy Vincent on Saturday were
Mrs. Beatrice Lovett of St.
Catharines and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Murch of Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. McKin-
non spent a few days last week
with Mr. and Mrs. John K.
MacTavish and family at Brant-
ford and Mr. and Mrs. H.
Spence MeKinnon and family at
Niagara Falls,
Mr. John K. MacTavish, who
has been with the Department
of Municipal Affairs Assess-
ment Branch at London for the
past eight years, has been trans-
fetred to Brantford as supervisor
of a new regional assessment
office to be opened in that city
this month.

WHITECHURCH—On Friday
Robert Watt held a birthday par-
ty at the home of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Watt, to
celebrate his 6th birthday. Ro-
bert invited his friends, Earl
Thompson, Ricky Hand, Linda
Moore, Murray Adams, Clair
Weber and Ronnie Soloman who
live in the village and ride on
the school bus.
Robert received gifts and all
the children enjoyed games,
and presents from the fish pond.
Lunch was served.

were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Clarence Adams and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Cray,

holiday with her mother, Mrs.

and Mrs. Wilbert Schwichten-
berg and family of Port Elgin
were Thanksgiving visitors with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al-
bert Coultes. Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Schwichtenberg of Mild-

day with Mr. and Mrs. Coultes.

workshop will be held at 2 p.m.
in Chalmers Presbyterian Church
at Whitechurch. Leaders for
the senior W. M. S. group dis-
cussion will be Mrs. Nutt and
for the junior groups C.O.C.,
Explorers and C. G. I. T. , Miss
Dorothy Keller. Everyone is
cordially invited to attend.

United Church last Wednesday
by baskets of gladiolus and
dahlias for the U.C.W. Thank-
offering. Mrs. George Mitchell
presided and gave the call to
worship.
Mrs. Ezra Scholtz led in
prayer and Scripture was read
by Mrs. Elwood Groskorth. Mrs.
George Thompson gave the
meditation, stressing that all
things work together for good
fot those who serve God. She
concluded with the poem,
"Somebody". Mrs. Russel Chapo
man gave a reading, "Eternal-
ly", and led in prayer.
Mrs. Mitchell explained the
meaning of a thankoffering and
Mrs. Clifford Laidlaw and Mrs.
Barnet Sleighthoim received the
offering, which was dedicated
by Mts. Mitchell.
The St. Helens 1.1.C.W. at-
tended and Mrs. W, Rutherford
Rave a reading, "Let Me Give
Miss Karen Hill of Rockwood
and Mrs. Hill's sister, Mrs. Wil-
bur Allan and daughter Lois of
Sault Ste. Marie.
Mrs. Gordon Rintoul and
Gayle were Monday visitors
with her mother, Mrs. Robert
Purdon of Belgrave.
Visitors on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Leroy Rintoul were Mr.
and Mrs. Les Vincent and Paul
of London and Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Taff of London. On Mon-
day Miss Rosemarie Hallahan
of Waterloo visited at the same
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Irwin were
guests on Saturday at the wed-
ding of Miss Margaret Farrish
and Mr. Irwin Campbell in Ash-
field Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Reta Turner of Toronto
moved on Saturday into the
apartment recently vacated by
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Naylor
and family, at the home of
Mrs. Albert McQuillan. We
welcome Mrs. Turner back to
the village.
Mrs. Ronald Jamieson, Lori
and Gordon are spending this
week with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. F. G. McGowan of Toron-
to, and other friends in the city.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mac-
Donald and Mr. and Mrs. Ezra
Scholtz spent Saturday at Erin
Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Sim-
mons and Ronnie of London
spent the week-end with her
father, Mr. Charles Martin and
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Simmons of Wingham.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dir-
stein of Toronto and Mr. Don-
ald Gaunt of Kitchener spent
the holiday week-end with Mr.
and Mrs. Russel Gaunt.
Mrs. W. R. Farrier accomp-
anied her daughter, Miss Winni-
fred Farrier back to. Toronto
where she will spend the winter
with Mr. and Mrs. Carman Far-
rier and family of Long Branch.
Thanks". The guest speaker,
Rev. Stirling of Lucknow, was
introduced by Rev. Willis of Sr.
Helens,
Mr. Stirling's address was
titled, "What does Christianity.
mean? What is it?" He said
Christian faith must be streng-
thened by remembrance of
Christ on the cross, of His suf-
fering and endurance. Christ is
found in all missions and
Christians must identify them-
selves with mission people and
express love toward them. The
cross represents man to man
and man's relationship to God.
It is a challenge to become a
missionary for Christ.
The speaker was thanked by
Mrs. Mitchell. Mrs, Andrew
Gaunt, accompanied Mrs.John-
ston Conn sang a solo. They
represented the Whitechurch
W.M.S. Members of the Luck-
now iJ.C.W. were also guests.
Refreshments were served in
the Sunday School room and a
social time was enjoyed.
