W, 0, A. A. competition last
Thursday by dumping the locals
9-4 to win their best of five
league final three games to
two. Atwood had evened the
series at two all with an 8-1
win two days before.
Ron Scholl limited Wingham
to two hits and struck out 8 in
recording the victory in the
fourth game. Scholl also was
Atwood's top batter connecting
for a homer, a double and tri-
ple, while Allan Harron added
a home run,
Wingham hurler Donnie Mur-
ray collected 9 strikeouts dur-
ing the game. Barry Gardner
and Randy Hafermehl account-
ed for Wingham's only hits,
both singles.

Cartoon
It was like seeing an old
friend, to view the talent of
Roy Castle again on last week's
"Twelve For Summer" produc-
tion, The Guido Basso Show.
Roy is the little English fellow
who came across the sea, and
played a few times on The Gar-
ry Moore Show. He turned out
to be so very talented and such
a darn nice guy that he captur-
ed the hearts of Garry and all
his viewers. When Garry's show
folded, he hiked back over
'ome, only returning for guest
spots on North American tele-
vision shows. This was not the
only Canadian show we have
seen him on this season; recent-
ly, he starred with Shirley Har-
mer in a "Show of The Week"
production.
Guido Basso started as a
young man with a horn, and has
now developed his own orches-
tra, with a fine distinctive
sound and a large following
among the fans. And just be-
tween you, me and the gate-
post, I think Betty Robertson
has a better sound each time I
hear her. Correct me if I'm
wrong, but I think she is our
best Canadian femme singer
right now. I'd very much like
to see her in a series of her
own; she must be hiding some
personality in that frame some-
where, and I bet she'd be areal
hit!

One of the new shows debut-
ing on the new CI3C Color sea-
son, is a little gem called
"Hey, Landlord;;, seen for the
first time on Sunday, Septem-
ber 11th, at `I p.m. It is a half-
hour comedy series which stars
Will Hutchins as Woody Banner,
a young Midwestern college
graduate who moves to New
York City to 'find himself' and
promptly becomes manager of
a town house inherited from his
uncle. The series revolves
around Woody's escapades with
the different tenants of his town
house. His prime tenant is pal
Chuck Hookstratten, played by
Sandy Baron. lie is an aspir-
ing comedian trying to get his
foot in the show business door.
Remains to be seen what this
series has to offer. Right now,
it sounds about as dull as a soda
cracker as far as I'm concerned.
But these two may have some
great hidden comedy talent and
if a team of good comedy writ-
ers is working on the scripts, it
could be a blockbuster. Let's
watch it and see !
Following "Iley, Landlord"
on Sunday evenings, will be the
old favourite Canadian panel
show "Flashback", with a new
member of the panel Larry Sol-
way, replacing Alan Mannings.
Solway is a familiar name to
CHUM listeners, and followers
of that radio station's 'Open
Line' program. He is the mod-
erator of that, and has a num-
ber of times hit the headlines
by stating his views a bit strong-
ly.
He is also one-half of the
comedy commercial team of
Larry and Garry. (The other is
Garry Ferrier.) He has been in
the business nearly twenty
years, working as writer, an-
nouncer, actor and commenta-
tor, and is now copy director
for a Toronto radio station. He
has also guested on Toronto
television shows, among them
the other panel show, "Front
Page Challenge". He and his
wife, their two children, and a
mother-in-law live in a nine-
room home in midtown Toronto.
