Rep. There is still a fair amount of spring grain to harvest due to catchy weather. A few farmers have pulled white beans. Some of the pods are short and many reduce yield potential, Pastures are looking and producing very well. A fair amount of land is being prepared for fall wheat. Grain corn yield should be pleasing if we can get sufficient warm weather to finish it. Sil- age corn should be satisfactory. Mrs. Eccles Dow of East Wa- wanosh is a patient in Wing- ham and District Hospital. The community wishes her a speedy recovery, Mr. and Mrs. Gershom John- ston visited Wednesday and Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Smith and family of Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Why- tock and family visited on Sun- day with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Cloakey and family of Brussels. Sharon Cloakey returned home with them for holidays. Belgrave choir provided the music for the services. Rev. Hugh Wilson of Exeter will be in charge of supplying speakers each Sunday until a minister is obtained for the charge. Mr. Johnston remained to go on a fishing trip and Mrs. Johnston returned to town. Miss Mary Falconer of Glam- mis is spending holidays this week with Misses Annie and Mary Laidlaw. Visitors last week with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Coultes were Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Canning of Brampton and Mrs. Velma Dow of London. Mr. Paul Elliott and his grandmother, Mrs. Gordon El- liott of Wingham, spent the early part of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Elliott and family of Ailsa Craig and on Wednesday Paul returned home, accompanied by Mrs. Gordon Elliott and his cousin, Bruce Elliott, who returned on Sun- day to his home. Mr. Wayne Farrier of sau- ble Beach spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Farrier. The softball team on which Wayne is pitch- er is leading in its league. The guest preacher in the United Church, in the absence of Rev. George Mitchell while on holidays, was Rev. Maine of Londesboro. Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClen- aghan spent Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mc- Clenaghan at the home of Mrs. James Anderson of Brussels. Mr. and Mrs, Wesley Tiffin spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Purdon, West Wawanosh. Mr. Len Coine of Windsor arrived Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor to spend a week's holiday with them, and Mrs. Coine and fam- ily who had arrived the week before. Whitechurch Juveniles and Mildmay teams played at Wing- ham Monday evening. The score was Mildmay 5, White- church 0. Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher and Doris last week spent holi- days with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lougheed at their cottage at Stoney Lake. While there they attended the wedding of Mary Stewart of Eganville and Eric Olsen, The bride's mother is the former Ethel Martin of Par- amount. On the way home they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fisher and family of Guelph. On Wednesday evening the committee of Mrs. Andrew Gaunt, Mrs. Johnston Conn, Mrs. Bill Rintoul, Mrs. Wesley Tiffin and Mrs. John Gaunt met to plan the catering for a wed- ding dinner early in September. Mr. and Eldon Emerson and Darlene of Kitcnencr re- turned on Sunday to rite home of Miss Lila Emerson, after spending holidays with her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ginac of Sudbury. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Procter, Mrs. Jack Hayes and Mrs. Rohl. Hinkle of Livonia visited from Friday to Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Russel Ritchie, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tiffin of Lang- side and Mr. and Mrs. 'Fred Tiffin and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson of Whitechurch. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moore and Sandra of Burwash visited last week with his father, Mr. Art Moore, and on Thursday visited with their Whitechurch friends. P, Warkentin of Clearbrook,B.C. Mr. Watt returned by plane August 20. Mrs. Watt and family start- ed for home just prior to the rail strike. On Saturday night they were at Winnipeg where on Sunday morning they would take a bus for Toronto. They hoped to arrive at Orillia Mon- day at 6 p.m. DONNYBROOK Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson, David and Donna of London and Miss Brenda Ritchie of Lucknow visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ed- ward Robinson and family last Saturday. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Robinson and family visited with Mr. and Mrs. Clar- ence Ritchie and family of Lucknow and on Sunday visited with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Smith of Kitchener. Marilyn and Debbie Johnston of Clinton, Diana Smith of Kit- chener and Carol Williams of London have been holidaying at the Robinson home this week. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Mc- Laughlin of Detroit are staying with the Thompson children and Mr. William Webster of St. Helens is staying with the Charn- ney children while their parents are on a motor trip to the West. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jefferson of Newmarket and Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson left Thursday on a motor trip to Port Arthur. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Robin- son, Judy and Janice, Mrs. J.C. Robinson of Wingham and Miss Carol Williams of London spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Williams and fam- ily of London. Carol remained home with her parents. Miss Melanie DiNova re- turned home to Toronto on Sun- day after visiting for several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Wal- ter Arscott and family.
