On Tuesday of last week the
"Cuties" had an exhibition
game with some of the nurses
from the hospital. The patients
were to be pitied the next day
for there were a lot of sore
muscles.
We never saw a short-stop
catch a ball with her knees be-
fore. We wonder which one of
the nurses that was?
Verna Steffler was the pitch-
er. She hit a 3-bagger, got 3
home and slid home in the mucL
We don't know what happened
the centre fielder. She rather
lost the ball in the sky. Shortie
on short stop caught another
pop without a glove. I guess
that's why she used her knees
before.
Verna Ellis had a nice triple
and brought two home. The
first baseman had a case ofbut-
ter fingers.
The "Cuties" had two home
runs by Barb Dauphin and Mar-
ion Willie. The left field lost
her head wires in the middle of
the game -- we lost her and
found her in the car taking them
out.
It was a lot of fun and we
hope the patients didn't suffer
too much the next day. The
"Cuties" took pity on the nurses
and just played 5 innings. The
game was 17-8 for the "Cuties".

that many of our Canadian stars
arc on vacation, lolling in the
sun in Hawaii, or surfing off the
Bermuda coast, they are actual-
ly hard at work, preparing next
season's entertainment for us.
The cast of "Front Page Chal-
lenge", Fred Davis, Betty Ken-
nedy, Pierre Berton, and Gor-
don Sinclair, are in Vancouver
for four shows that will be video-
taped there later this month.
Their guest panelists will be
well-known Vancouver people,
like Lorne Parton and Les Wed-
man, both newspaper colum-
nists; author Simma Holt; and
broadcaster Jack Webster who
has been a frequent guest on
their Toronto productions. No
doubt their mystery stories will
also include a number of Van-
couver and B.C. residents from
Western Canada news stories.
On the other side of the
country, the other Canadian
panel show "Flashback", is en-
tertaining audiences and taping
shows to present later on the
network. The cast and crew of
that show are in Halifax where
they are taping four shows with
new host Jimmy Tapp taking
over from Bill Walker; and a
new panelist, Larry Solway, For
those of you familiar with the
"Open Line" radio broadcast,
Larry Solway will ring a bell as
being the name of one of the
best (and most straightforward)
in that kind of business. He will
join regular panelists Maggie
Morris and Elwy Yost, and they
will also feature guest panelists
from their location town. They
will be broadcasters Libbie
Christensen and Ann Terry, the
former being a frequent Toron-
to guest.
The other CBC show that is
on the road this summer is The
Tommy Hunter Show. Its pro-
ducer, Dave Thomas, and star;
Tommy, Pat Hervey, The Rhy-
thm Pals, Jim Pixie, Al Cherny
and Bert Niosi and his Orches-
tra, will be in Calgary on Aug-
ust 23rd; the Rafter Six Ranch
(between Banff and Calgary) on
August 25th; and in Edmonton
on August 20th.
The regular season for these
shows begins in September and
October. After October 1st,
they will be three of the many
shows being seen in color.
These pre-color productions on
location, however, will be in

OUT-DATED..
but who knows it!
Like an old car, your insur-
ance program can become
out-dated, too. But while an
old car shows its obsolescence,
it takes study and review to
uncover out-dated insurance.
Does your program incorpor-
ate the many recent insurance
improvements which make
possible superior, more eco-
nomical protection? If not,
you'd do well to see us for a
complete protection review.

Monday evening was the
first game of Juvenile Girls'

town.
The girls really came through
with some lovely hits. Wing-
ham had seven home runs: Bon-
nie Willie 2, Jayne English,
Pat Zurbrigg, Barb Dauphin,
Marion Willie and Linda Aitche-
son with one apiece.
Marion Willie seemed to
like the coach on third base--
she didn't want to go any fur-
ther,
The score was 36 - 8 for

for the transistor radio was
made at the park in the second
game of the playoffs.

weren't nervous -- well, not
much.
