came the bride of James Ewart

and Mrs, William Austin of
Gorlie, in a ceremony at Christ
Anglican Church, Tara, on
Saturday, August 0,
The church was decorated
with white gladiolus in brass
vases on the altar and standards
of fern on the chancel steps.
Rev. A. M. Stephens of-
ficiated for the double-ring
ceremony and the organist was
Mrs. Norman Bailey of Tara,
Mrs. Gilch ist Funston of Tara,
aunt of the bride, was soloist.
The bride's father gave her
in marriage. She wore .a floor-
length sleeveless sheath gown
of Bemburg organza over taf-
feta with slightly raised waist-
line, completed with a lace
coat in a leaf motif with scal-
loped edging and hell-shaped
sleeves. A round ring of pleat-
ed organza held the short bouf-
fant French veil of silk illusion
and she carried one long stem-
med pink Sensation rose.
tier attendants were Mrs.
Douglas Wallace of Toronto,
matron of honor, and Miss Bet-
ty Broadfoot of Vancouver, sis-
ter of the bride and Miss Chris-
tine Austin of Oakville, niece
of the groom. They wore floor-
length daffodil yellow gowns of
Bemburg organza over taffeta
with empire waist trimmed with
yellow lace, and lace trimmed
short sleeves. Each dress featur-
ed a round neckline and a large
flat bow at the back of the
waist held a lace trimmed pan-
el. They wore wrist-length
gloves, carried a long stemmed
white rose and had yellow pet-
als scattered in their hair.
Douglas Wallace was best
man and Ronald Bartley and
Robert Dutton of Elmira were
ushers.
The bride's mother wore a
powder blue lace dress with
matching coat, blue tulle hat
and white accessories and a cor-
sage of pink roses. The groom's
mother chose a white silk dress

shower held by Mrs. Donald Ad-
hrens, Brampton, a personal
shower at the home of Mrs. R.
Watson and a community show-
er at the bride's home.
The pupils of grades 3 and 4,
Glendale Public School, Bramp-
ton, held a surprise party and
presented their teacher with in-
dividual gifts.

At United Church
FORDWICH--On Sunday,
August 7, Rev. W. C. Parrott
preached his first sermon at
Fordwich United Church.
Rev. Parrott came from Car-
adoc where he worked at the
Indian Mission. He was also
minister at the Richard Memor-
ial Church, London, for several
years and was secretary of the
Middlesex Presbytery for six
years.
Rev, and Mrs. Parrott, have
moved to Fordwich. They have
one son, who is inspector of
public schools at Fort Frances.

of Harriston visited Mr. and.
Mrs. Ervin Reidt on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Metz-
ger visited in London on Sun-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Clarke
of Mitchell visited with Mr.
and Mrs. E. Greenley on Sun-
day. Ronald Clarke, who had
been holidaying here, returned
to his home.
Miss Kathy Greenley spent
last week at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey Heimbecker.
Mr. and Mrs. James Inglis
and Jim visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Goldhawk of Ridge-
town on Sunday.
Miss Ethel Webber of Tor-
onto is presently visiting at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Webber.
Miss Frances Inglis was able
to return to her home last week
from Wingham and District
Hospital where she was a pa-
tient.

St. Anne's Guild
At Armstrong Home
FORDWICII--.Sr. Anne's
Guild met at the home of Mrs,
Bruce Armstrong. Mrs, Peter
Browne presided and the meet-
ing opened with a hymn arid
prayer.
The Scripture lesson was
read by Mrs. Sadie Johnson, a
visitor from British Columbia,
attending the meeting with Mrs.
Curtis Jordan who was in charge
of the study book and chose the
chapter, "According to Labour
Everyone Works".
Roll call was answered by 15
members and four visitors.
Cards were signed for a mem-
ber of the Guild and one from
the W. A. who are confined to
hospitals.
The ladies decided to pur-
chase three dozen new cups and
saucers for the kitchen. Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Dinsmore presented
two trays to the Guild to also be
used for the kitchen of the
church.
Rev. H. Jenkins gave a
reading, "Mere Christianity".
It was also decided that new
linen would be purchased for
the communion table. Mrs. Ru-
by Forester will look after the
purchase.
Mrs. Dinsmore asked if any-
one would be interested in help-
ing a couple of hours a week in
teaching handicrafts to pa-
tients.
Rev. Jenkins gave the clos-
ing prayer. Mrs. Hector
Browne conducted contests and
lunch was served by the hostess.

Mr. and Mrs. Ken Grewar,
Nancy and Bradley of Montreal,
spent a week's vacation with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Har-
vey Webb.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gardner
and Tracy of London spent a
week with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Curran.
Recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Curran were Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Bolt and family of
Belwood.
Douglas and Lori Miller
spent a week in Barrie with Mr.
and Mrs. Willis Corrigan.
Mrs. Harvey Webb and Mrs.
Dan Rose, David and Alison
were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Lorne Webb at God-
erich. Dan Rose of Emo spent a
week at the Webb home.
Mr. and Mrs, Ivan McQuil-
lin of Kitchener spent Sunday
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Orvis,
Dianne and Sharen of Sault Ste.
Marie have returned home af-
ter spending two weeks with the
Hall and Orvis families. Miss
Dianne Orvis spent the week-
end with Miss Brenda Ellacott
at Walkerton. On Sunday a
family gathering was held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Hall. Those attending were
from Glencoe, Newton, Brus-
sels and Aventon.
Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hender-
son have enjoyed a trip to the
Maritimes.
Rev, Q. C, Mitchell and
Mrs. Mitchell are visiting their
son Frederick and his family,
having gone by plane to Hali-
fax.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond El-
liott visited their daughter and
family, Rev. Wm, Black more
and Mrs. 131ackmore, at their
summer cottage at Amberley.

The bride's travelling cos-
tume was sleeveless two-piece
white wool suit with double
breasted jacket, black accessor-
ies and a headband of white and
yellow stephanotis.
Prior to her wedding the
bride was honored at a miscel-
laneous shower at the home of
Miss Shirley Jefferson of Bramp-
ton, with Mrs. David Beatty as
co-hostess, a miscellaneous
