FORDWICH—Mr. and Mrs.
Glenn Johnston were pleasantly
surprised Tuesday night when
neighbours gathered at their
home on the occasion of their
25th wedding anniversary. They
were presented with a pole
lamp.
On Wednesday night several
friends gathered at their home
and after a good old-fashioned
charivari they were presented
with a bedspread. Marian and
Glenn thanked everyone for the
gifts and a social time was en-
joyed by all.
The rising cost of food is just
another blow below the belt.
Rev. T. Richards
Is Guest Speaker
WROXETER—Sacrament ser-
vice was held in the United
Church conducted by Rev. Ron-
ald Sweeney. The choir sang
"Lord, Teach Us to Pray", Rev.
Trevor Richards of Rodney and
West Lorne, formerly of Que-
bec, was the guest speaker. His
theme was church attendance
taken from Luke 4: 16, "And
he came to Nazareth where he
had been brought up, and as
was the custom he went into the
synagogue on the Sabbath day."
Without worship you can
have a club, but you can't have
a church, What took Jesus to
church? The little synagogue
in Nazareth must have had fel-
lowship for Jesus where friends
prayed. There is a confirma-
tion in faith when a group wor-
ships together, more so then
one individual can confirm.
The speaker stated that in
church we get help to keep the
genius of childhood years in our
hearts. Church is a place of re-
covery. In the 16th century
people had to go to church but
now no one is forced to attend.
God gives grace and strength
from church attendance.
