Should this part fail the front wheel would certainly collapse resulting in severe loss of control, and perhaps an end-over-end roll, This tie-rod-end was removed just in time as the result of a careful safety check by an On- tario mechanic. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnston were pleasantly surprised on Fri- day evening when a number of friends in the community gath- ered at their home to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The evening was spent in play- ing euchre. A presentation of a gossip bench was made. Relatives who visited Mr. and Mrs, Johnston on Saturday and celebrated with them were Mr. and Mrs. Irvine McCabe, of Windsor, Mr. and Mrs. Mar- vin McCabe, of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Fred McQuillin, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McQuillin, Mr. Terry Wilson, all of Lucknow, Mr. and Mrs. Barry McQuillin and Jill, of Hespeler, Mr. and Mrs. Neil McGavin and child- ren of Walton. Mrs. Arnold Lillow, and Mrs. Norma McMinn, of Toronto, attended the funeral service for Mrs. Stewart Matson, at Dun- dalk, last week. C.O.C. Meeting WHITECHURCH--Langside C. O.C. held their June meet- ing on Sunday during church service in the community hall. President Ross Moffat presided. The Scripture was read by Ken- neth Scott. Bob Bregman led in prayer. The secretary, Agnes Con- ley read the minutes and called the roll which was answered by 20 members. The offering was received by Marty Young and offertory prayer was given by Laura Jean Conlon. A chapter from the study book was given by Mrs. Conlon, Mrs. George Young gave a talk on the second parable, "The Wheat and the Tares". Family from For Brother's GORRIE-Harry I. Rhame gave his daughter, Corrine Eth- el in marriage on Friday at 6,30 when she became the bride of James Samuel Atwell of Lon- don. Rev. J. Wilfred Hird per- formed the ceremony in Gorrie United Church which was decor• ated for the occasion with can- delabra, fronds and baskets of white button mums and dark pink Delight roses. Miss Lynda Johnston was organist and Miss Carol Robinson of Kitchener sang " The Lord's Prayer" and "Wedding Prayer". The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rhame of Gorrie and the groom is the son of Mr. James Atwell of Newton- butler, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland and the late Mrs. Atwell. The bridal gown of white French peau de faille was floor. length with shallow scooped neckline, long lily-point sheath sleeves touched with Swiss gui- pure lace and an A-line semi- fitted skirt with extra fullness at the back which cascaded from a tailored bow at the em- ire waistline. The gown fea- Ireland Wedding tured a chapel train. Her French silk illusion fingertip veil was caught by a Queen's crown of seed pearls and crys- tal. She carried a cascade of dark pink Sweetheart roses, white button mums and fern. Her only attendant was Miss Betty Anne Douglas of London who wore a floor-length sheath of pale blue crystaline silk with controlled fullness at the back, cap sleeves. She wore a mat- ching headdress and carried a bouquet the same as the bride's, Gordon Cronk of Ailsa Craig was best man and ushers were Robert Grainger and James Gra- ham of Gorrie. The bride's mother received at the Blue Barn in a Dior blue silk shantung sheath over which she wore a Chantilly lace coat with black accessories. Her corsage was crimson Sweet- heart roses. She was assisted by the groom's aunt, Mrs. Ed Gibbons of Jarvis who wore a yellow brocade sheath with beige accessories and corsage of Talisman roses and fern. The groom's brother, Alex- ander Atwell, and his sister, Miss Yvonne Atwell of Ireland attended the wedding. They came to Canada by plane. For the wedding trip to Yel- lowstone National Park, Wy- oming, U. S. A. the bride wore a beige and pink suit with pink accessories and corsage of pink roses. The bride is a graduate of the Occupational Therapy School, Kingston. She has been working in London and the ther- apy department there presented her with a crystal and silver salad bowl and servers.
