HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Wingham Advance-Times, 1966-06-09, Page 2This tie-rod-end which has failed illustrates the mechan-
ism which holds an automobile front wheel in position.
Should this part fail the front wheel would certainly
collapse resulting in severe loss of control, and perhaps
an end-over-end roll, This tie-rod-end was removed just
in time as the result of a careful safety check by an On-
tario mechanic. Top: Tie-rod-end of the "self lubricating
type" in position showing extraordinary wear. Rubber
seal appears damaged. Bottom: Same tie-rod-end with
joint separated .using just finger tip pressure. Failure
caused by lack of lubrication, resulting in excessive wear
to fitting.
