Calvin-Brick Anniversary WHITECHURCH—Anniver- sary service was held at Calvin- Brick church on Sunday morn- ing. The church was decorated with spring flowers. The messages of song were given by the junior choir and Jim Robertson sang a solo. Mrs. George McGee presided at the organ and Jim Robertson at the piano. HELENS Mr. and Mrs. David Gil- mour, Jefferay and Steven of Montreal, spent a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Woods spent the week-end in Oshawa with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hawley and Leslie Ann. Sympathy of the community goes to Mr. and Mrs. John Prit- chard in the loss of her mother, Mrs, Winterstein. Rev. A. E. Willis is attend- ing the London Conference of the United Church this week. Mrs. Willis is visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Don Chapman, Mr. Chapman and family in London this week. Mrs. Keith Gardner, the former Nancy borscht, was guest of honor at a homecom- ing party in St. Helens hall on Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner and little son left on Friday to return to their home in Calgary. No Injuries in Car Accident Damage was light and there were no injuries when a car, driven by Arthur Joseph Show- ers, 22, of Owen Sound struck a parked car at McDougall's Grocery, Saturday afternoon. Owner of the parked vehi- cle was Arthur Stokes of Lower Wingham. Charges have been laid. OPP Const. Murry Friden- burg of the Wingham detach- ment investigated. Wingham district 4-H Club members placed prominently in the Huron County livestock judging competition, held last Saturday, according to results published by D. S. Pullen, as- sociate agricultural representa- tive for Huron. Ross Veitch, R.R. 2, Brus- sels, took top honors among 14 contestants in the senior section, open to all young men and wom- en in the 18-30 years bracket and to those who have represent- ed the county on royal teams and graduates of a two-year diploma course in agriculture. He scored 631 out of a possible 700 points, Ken McAdam and Jim Mc- Adam, both of R.R. 2, Wing- ham placed first and second, respectively, in the junior sec- tion, open to all boys and girls in the 12-14 years group, in- cluding previous participants in 4-H inter-club in Guelph. They scored 626 and 624 points out of a possible 700. Top honors in the novice section fell to Dennis Schultz of R. R. 1, Lucknow in the 12- 17 years group, scoring 446 out of a possible '700 points. This group covers those in the 12- 17 years of age bracket who en- tered judging competition for the first time. Nancy Walden, R. R. 2, Lucknow tied for sec- ond place with a score of 445. The Canadian National Ex- hibition shield for high novice judge also went to Dennis Schultz. Runner-up for the C.I.L. trophy, awarded to the highest score in swine judging went to Grant Coultes, R. R. 4, Wing- ham who scored 193 out of a possible 200 points. He was also winner of the sheep award. Highest score in the dairy section won the Carnation Co. Ltd. trophy for Ken McAdam. He earned 183 points out of a possible 200. Grant Coultes took the Cy- anamid of Canada Award for the sheep section with the near- perfect score of 99 out of 100 points. Tied for runner-up at 98 points were Neil Gowing of R.R. 2, Bluevale and Doug. Garniss, of R. R. 4, Wingham. Highest score in the beef section and the Huron County Beef Producers' Association award went to Ross Veitch, who scored 195 out of 200 points. Bob Corrigan, R. R. 2, Blue- vale, who scored 191 points was runner-up. BELGRAVE Mrs. Margaret Higgins of Blyth returned home from Lon- don on Sunday. Before leaving she was a guest at the reunion of the nurses' graduation class of 1941, of which Miss Lenora Higgins is a member. Miss Higgins is the only member of the class who has never left Victoria Hospital. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Procter were Mr. and Mrs. W. Shorie and Mr. and Mrs. Al Russel and sons, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon John- ston, all of Chalk River. MR. AND MRS, PAUL STAT!A were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs, Wesley Heimpel, Wroxeter, on Friday, May 20. Group Holds General Meeting BELGRAVE.-The general tneeortg of the U.C,W,, was held in the church schoolrooms on Thursday, Mrs. Stanley Cook gave the call to worship. Scripture was read by Mrs. Cook. Barbara Mullwyk, =wanted by Mrs. George Michie, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". Mrs, Albert Coul tes read an essay based on Cor- inthians la, which was written by her daughter, Linda, President Mrs. Jack Taylor was in charge of the business. Minutes were read by Mrs. Coultes and the treasurer's report by Mrs, George Michie. A card of thanks was read from Mrs, May Scott. The group will cater to the banquet for the Huron County 25th celebration on July 20. All occasion cards will be or- dered by Mrs. Leslie Bolt and Mrs, Ross Anderson. The group will not hold a bazaar in the fall, The Dynamic Christian Fel- lowship Day to be held June 11 at the Goderich Summer Camp was announced. The next gen- eral meeting will be held Aug- ust 25. TB Association Elects Officers Re-elected president of the Huron County Tuberculosis As- sociation was George Watt of Blyth. The association's an- nual meeting was held Monday night at Blyth.
