JOSEPHINE STREET PHONE WINGHAM 357-1840 The Wednesday night ladies' league banquet was held at the Legion Home last Wednesday. Following a delicious turkey supper which was prepared and served by the Ladies' Auxiliary to the Legion, a meeting was held to elect the 1965-66 ex- ecutive. Verna Steffler will be the new president, Shirley Storey the secretary, Hilda Brown, treasurer and Mary Campbell, press reporter. Team captains will be Helen Casemore, Aud- rey Swatridge, Nora Finnigan, Marg Moffatt, Dorothy Bain and Louise Welwood. Following dinner several trophies were presented. The End of Season Banquet INDIVIDUAL AWARDS were presented to members of the Wednesday Night Ladies' Bowling League. Season awards went to, front: Verna Steffler, high single, 330; Hilda Brown, high average, 212; Ruth PLAYOFF CHAMPIONS of the Wednesday Night Ladies' Bowling League, Edna's Ter- riers, received awards at the league ban- quet last Wednesday night. Front: Jean- trophy for high team for sea- son's play went to Bea's Hounds with Bea Shropshall as captain, Gwen MacLaurin, Nora Finni- gan, Sandra Riehl, Glena Mc- Comb and Doreen Young. Season's high single trophy went to Verna Sterner with 330 and high average trophy was captured by Hilda Brown with 212, high triple trophy to Ruth Tiffin with 781 and most im- proved bowler trophies to Shir- ley Storey and Nora Finnigan. The playoff trophies went to Edna's Terriers with Edna Con- gram as captain, Shirley Stor- ey, Jean King, Mary Campbell and Janette Scott and Shirley Simmons. Shirley Ellis spared for Edna Congram. Playoff high triple trophy was won by Marg Moffatt with 780 and Louise Welwood cap- tured the high single trophy with 325. The ladies played euchre and lunch was served and sup- plied by the captains. Prize winners at euchre were high lady, Carol Clark; high lady playing as a man, Audrey Swat- ridge; low lady, Marg Halla- han; low lady playing as a man, Barb. Stainton; most lone hands, Verna Steffler and Shirley Wal- ker; lucky number, Hilda Gor- don; lucky chair, Nora Finni- gan and travelling prize, Lorna Brown, On behalf of the league, thanks go to the Advance- Times for using our bowling news each week and to Hilda and Walter Brown who put up with our noise, nonsense and laughter during the season. We have had a lot of fun and there has been good team spirit throughout the season. WHITECHURCH Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Irwin and family of Oshawa brought Mr. and Mrs. Tom Magoffin, who had been visiting the past few weeks with them, backto their home here on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Peter DeBoer and Nancy were Sunday eve- ROW THREE MILES BUT NOT BY CHOICE WHITECHURCH—On Sunday Gordon and Mac Ross and Brian Forsyth set out from Wingham to go as far as they could on the Maitland River in their mo- tor boat. All went well until they got about three miles this side of Benmiller. There the boat up- set, all got wet and the gaso- line from the motor was lost. They had to resort to the old method of rowing with oars but reached Benmiller without fur- ther mishap, where they left the boat until Monday.
