LAKELET-On Tuesday of
last week ten members of the
Womens Institute motored to
Clinton to entertain residents at
Huronview, especially those
who celebrate May birthdays.
At two o'clock when all had
assembled, including many in
wheelchairs, the 16 celebrants
were photographed with their
decorated birthday cake.
Mrs. L. Murray, who acted
as master of ceremonies spoke
a few words of greeting and in-
troduced the characters of a
skit, "Too Short on One End".
Taking part were Mrs. D. Hall-
man, Mrs. H. Wallace, Mrs.
L. Murray and Mrs. R. Allan.
A duet, " Back of the Clouds"
was sung by Mrs. G. Wright and
Mrs. J. Ferguson, and a read-
ing, "The Good Old Days" by
Mrs. E. Ferguson. Mrs. P.
Huth contributed a piano selec-
tion, a medley of old familiar
tunes.
Mrs. Murray introduced the
cast of a pantomime, "Cat Pie",
and another duet was sung, " Be-
hold I Stand at the Door".
Mrs. E. Ferguson read " Old
Age Is Golden". Mrs. Murray
led a sing song with Mrs. Huth
Feb. 25, 1886, he was the son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Adams. He was a well-known
bricklayer and carpenter dur-
ing his working career. He re-
tired some years ago.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Beatrice Keith.
The body was at the John-
stone and Son funeral home,
Lucknow until Sunday when re-
moval was made to the Moir
funeral home, Gorrie, for ser-
vice Monday at 2 p.m, Rev.
Rod MacLean officiated. Burial
was in Wroxeter cemetery.
Miss B. M. Potter
Miss Beatrice Maud Potter
passed away in•the Wingham
and District Hospital on Sunday,
May 22. She was in her 81st
year.
She was born in Howick, a
daughter of the late James and
Elizabeth Potter. A sister Em-
ily Jemima predeceased her in
1959.
Miss Potter is survived by a
sister, Nirs. Bessie Metcalf of
Paisley, two nephews and one
niece.
Rev. C. F. Johnson of Wing-
ham conducted funeral service
in the Moir funeral home on
Wednesday and interment was
in Gorrie cemetery.
Pallbearers were Burns Stew-
art, Ed Stewart, Robert Tern-
pleman, Robert Elschner, Nor-
as accompanist.
The president, Mrs. J. Fer-
guson, presented each celebrant
with a small gift after which
lunch was served to about 80
residents. Mrs. Johnston, wife
of the superintendent, took the
members on a tour of the build-
ing, giving them an opportuni-
ty to meet those who were un-
able to leave their rooms.
The ladies left for home
with a sense of satisfaction,
Mrs. Don Pannabecker and
Roger spent the week-end with
Mr. and Mrs, Murray Fletcher
of Merlin.
Mr. and Mrs, Don Taylor
had as Sunday dinner guests fol-
lowing the baptismal service,
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Taylor,
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Walker,
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Taylor,
Ruth and Douglas and Mr, and
Mrs. Harold Taylor of Wing-
ham; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mil-
ler and Mrs. Ron Sprague of
London.
Frank McQuillin suffered a
fractured right hand in a farm
accident.
George McQuillin of Toron-
to was a week-end visitor with
Miss Beatrice Charles and Wil-
liam McQuillin.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gardner
and little daughter of London
were holiday visitors with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cur-
ran and Paul.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred McQuil-
lin attended the spring convo-
cation at Kitchener Auditorium
on Monday. Barry McQuillin
received his Bachelor of Arts
degree and is a graduate of
Waterloo Lutheran University.
Mrs. McQuillin remained with
her family for a few days.
On Sunday morning Rev.
A. E, Willis conducted bap-
tismal service in the St. Hel-
ens Church. Michael Richard
and Lisa Maureen, children of
Mr. and Mrs. Don Taylor and
Karen Elizabeth, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Art Eggleston
were baptized. Also at this
service Don Cameron and his
Belfast choir rendered several
musical numbers.
Miss Nancy Cranston of Lon-
don spent the holiday with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Cranston.

Blyth visited the former's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart
Higgins.
Holiday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Ira McLean were Mr, and
Mrs. Donald Gibson, Dana and
Duane of Monkton,
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Robinson
of Fordwich visited Mrs. David
Robinson on Saturday and all
visited Mr. Robinson in Wing-
ham and District Hospital.
Miss Elva Hupfer, Wingham,
visited Mr. John Hupfer and
Mrs. Kate Griffith on Monday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
White, their daughter, son-in-
law and family of Toronto spent
the week-end at their home
here,
Holiday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Jas. Sanderson were
Mr. David Sanderson of Wind-
sor and Mrs. Elizabeth Mercer
of Markdale.
Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey Wool-
lett and sons, of Toronto, spent
the week-end at their home
here and are making good pro-
gress on the erection of their
new house.
Mr. and Mrs. Carman Nix-
on, Grant, Lori and Andrea of
London and Mr. and Mrs. Wes-
ley Newton Jr. and Michael of
Wingham visited Mr. and Mrs.
Fraser Haugh at the holiday
week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Toman
and Mary of Kitchener and Mr.
Elgin Toman of Plattsville spent
Sunday at the home of their
brother, Mr. Ross Toman. Mr.
and Mrs. Elmer Kurt, New
Dundee, also called at the same
home.
Miss Elaine Sanderson, Kit-
chener, was a week-end visit-
or at the home of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Sanderson.
Mr. and Mrs. John Shepherd
and family of Agincourt and
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rickard
of Leaside were holiday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Vern Clark,
Mr. Jas. Clark and also visited
Mr. H. Geo. Clark at the Ford-
wich Nursing Home.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Duggan
and David of Stayner called on
Mr. and Mrs. George Griffith
on Monday afternoon after at-
tending the funeral of Mrs. Dug-
gan's uncle, Mr. John Adams.
Mr. Norman Nixon of Waterloo
spent the week-end at the same
home.

Miss Jane Bieman of Harriston
and Miss Sharon Pollock, Kit-
chener, spent the week-end
with Mr. and Mrs. Fraser Pol-
lock, Brockville.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Clement, Toronto, are spend-
ing this week at their home
here. Mr. Holly Clement,
Hamilton, was a week-end
visitor at the same home.

Caroline Adams of Whitechurch
visited Mr. and Mrs. George
Griffith Sunday evening.

week-end at the home of Mr.
John Hupfer and also called on
Mrs. Alonzo Sparling and Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Hart.
Mr. and Mrs. Murray John-
ston, Leslie and Heather of Wil-
lowdale visited on Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs. Art Gibson
and family.
The Wingham Hospital Tag
Day was held at Wroxeter on
Saturday with Danny Newton
and Arthur Gibson acting as tag-
gers. As in past years the peo-
ple were generous in their sup-
port of this worthwhile project.

ing will be held in the church
school rooms on Thursday at

and Mrs. Conrad Smithson and
Paul of Downsview. They also
visited with Mr. Robeil Procter
who is a patient in Wingham
and District Hospital.
Mrs. Winnie Smith spent the
holiday week-end with Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph McCrea and family
of Blyth.
WIN MATH CONTESTS
DONNYBROOK-Eldo Hilde-
brand, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Hildebrand was second in
the junior math contest held at
Clinton Secondary School and
Bill Robertson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Robertson was
second at the Goderich Col-
legiate in the same contest.
Each won a trip to Waterloo
University last Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Warner Smyth of
Teeswater and Mr. Claude
Naughton of Toronto and his
sister, who is visiting from Eng-
land were week-end visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Erring-
ton and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen McDon-
ald of London were holiday
visitors with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Gaunt.
Sunday Will Be
Congregation Day
At St. Andrew's
This Sunday, St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church observes
Congregation Day as part of the
festivities to coincide with the
opening and dedication of the
new sanctuary.
Rev. Chester M. Lewis of
Kitchener, will speak on" Burn-
ing Yet Flourishing". Mr. Lew-
is will be speaking at both the
9:30 and 11 o'clock services.
The evening service will be
particularly enjoyed by mem-
bers and former members of the
congregation. A number of
those who have left the walls of
St. Andrew's for the call to the
active ministry will be in at-
tendance, bringing words of
greeting.
A good response has been
indicated by those who are to
be present and taking part in
the Choir of Yesteryear. The
music at the evening services
has been most inspiring.

her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Attend Dedication
Of New Citadel
Mr. and Mrs. H. Wild of
Wingham, Mrs. E. Droumbolis
of London, Mrs. Allan Hick
and Wendy Hick of Toronto at-
tended the key turning and
dedication of the new Salva-
tion Army Citadel in Ganano-
que on Saturday evening and the
Sunday morning service.
The dedication and service
were conducted by Colonel and
Mrs. A. Simester of Toronto
and supported by Brigadier and
Mrs. W. T. Hawkes of King-
ston. The Salvation Army
Band of Belleville supplied the
musical selections and a com-
bo group of young people from
Lindsay also gave musical sel-
ections.
Capt. Viola Droumbolis,
Commanding Officer, sang a
solo, "How Great Thou Art".
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hart,
Douglas and Dale of Oshawa
spent the holiday week-end with
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hart and
Mrs. Bdward Newton.
Mr. and Mrs. Robt, Mont-
gomery, Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
Armour and Robin of Toronto
spent the week-end at their
summer home here.
Week-end visitors with

were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Gibson of Dundas.

Wroxeter Personal Notes
Lyle Watson
GORRIE-Lyle Milton Wat-
son, 46, of Gorrie died sud-
denly at his home on Tuesday,
May 17. He was the son of the
late Milton Watson and his
wife the former Nirene Stewart.
He was born November 29,
1919, at Gorrie where he had
lived all his life.
On November 15, 1948 he
married Wilma Heibein who •
survives. There are two daugh-
ters, Linda and Carol; five sons,
Donald, Gary, Jack, Murray
and Norman, all at home. One
sister, Mrs. Robt.(Beatrice)
Hays, Harriston and four broth-
ers, James and Keith of Fergus,
Harry of Kitchener and Kenneth
of London also survive.
Funeral service was held
Thursday at 2.30 p.m. at the
Moir funeral home. Rev. Ron-
ald M. Sweeney of Gorrie Unit-
ed Church officiated. Pallbear-
ers were Richard and Norman
Carson, Harold and Harry King,
Wesley Gallaher and Keith
Small. Burial was in Gorrie
cemetery.

Adams, 80, of Lucknow, for-
merly of Wroxeter, died Friday
at Wingham and District Hospi-
tal after a short illness.
Born in Howick Township man Wade and Robert Stephens.
