Live pedestrians and success- ful men always think fast on their feet, HIGH WATER WOES High water's great for fish, but it does pose problems for fishermen. Heavy spring rains that send lake levels soaring also scram- ble the usual fishing pattern. If the angler's tactics are not ad- justed accordingly, many fish- less days may result. It's important to understand what occurs when fish suddenly find unlimited roaming room. To cope with this situation, here's some advice: The fiat lands bordering lakes are quickly flooded by rising water, increas- ing the area you can cover with your Mercury outboard. An in- crease of even FISHER two feet over a gently sloping field may create acres of new grounds for fish to probe. A rise of 10 to 20 feet. not uncommon in large impoundments, can nearly double the normal feed- ing area, scattering fish far and wide. To compound matters, this new territory is rich in natural foods, and the fish literally gorge themselves for a while, Full of this natural food, fish are a bit more reluctant to strike at arti- tidal offerings. Yet the man who tosses plugs will do better than the bait thinker who remains in one location. As a general rule, use top- water and shallow running lures. Bottom bumping models tire. dillicUlt to handle in recently innnlidaled areas because of usually heavy bottom vegetation. Cast into toe weeds at the e d g e. Work the shoreline thoroughly, but keel) moving. Venture back into the narrow, tree-choked heads of coves; it's tough casting hilt lirOductive IfIrnergent growth away from shore indicates a hidden knoll which is almost guaranteed to attract fish, particularly big ones. Cast all the way around it care- fully. After a few weeks as condi- tions become more settled, fish finding will be more predictable. But, in the meantime, don't be discouraged by high water; you'll find fish by prowling constantly. Bluevale Among the signs of the new season are the early fishermen, day dreaming by the pond, the renewed interest in baseball and the resumed activity of the birds and insects, with the usual dis- ruption of households, known as spring cleaning. The Bluevale Women's In- stitute will meet at the home of Mrs. Carl Johnston, on Thursday, May 12th, instead of May 11th. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Elliottson of Toronto, were week-end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Clif- ford Brewer, essential in educating children in safety. Some people get there by pull, others by push, Motor vehicle accidents, burns and scalds, and drownings are accidents which most freq- uently cause death or perman- ent disablement to children, A good example set by parents is THE JIMMIE EMBRO ACCORDION COLLEGE OF MUSIC Due to local success and demand will avail a BEGINNERS' COURSE OPENING FOR PIANO ACCORDIAN with six one-hour class lessons, including loan of instrument and music, for $15.00 COMPLETE STUDIO-Town Hall For information and free aptitude test write to BOX 69, WINGHAM ADVANCE-TIMES or call at TOWN HALL FRIDAY EVENING from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Len Crawford Motors '65 PLYMOUTH 4-Door, 6 Stnd., Radio '64 DODGE 4-Door, 8 cyl. with Radio '64 DODGE 4-Door, 6 Automatic '63 VALIANT 4-Door, Radio '63 FORD 2-Door, 6 Std., with Radio '62 CHRYSLER 4-Dr., power equip., Radio '61 PLYMOUTH 4-Door, 8 Auto.
