Last Monday night saw the start of the playoffs and the Geminis came from the cellar to the top, with a total pinfall of 3,440 followed by the Moon Doggies with 2,387; Mercurys 3, 188; Explorers 3, 143; Appal- los 3,104 and the first place tea5mat the end of the regular season, now in the cellar with 2, 40. in second place with 8818. Not Bill Hotchkiss picked up all 1the honors with a high single of too far behind them, only 54 303 and a 789 triple. Honor- pins, in fact, are the Alouettes with 8704. The season's champs are in fourth place with 8560; Rough Riders have 8319 and last, but certainly not least are the Bombers with 8182. So, as I said before, anyone can win the playoffs. Also, through unexpected circumstances, the date of the bowling banquet has been chang- ed. Our banquet will be held at the Legion as previously stat- ed, but on Tuesday, May 3rd at 6.30 p.m. Please make a note of this date. Next week will see the end of our bowling sea- son for 1965-66, So, for the last night of playoffs, again, I wish you luck. 0--0--0 THURSDAY NIGHT MIXED LEAGUE The first week of playoffs started last week and the teams wound up in this order: Fran's Frantics 3259; Sharon's Sharks 3092; Gwen's Gophers 3069; Dianne's Duffers 3024; Dot's Dashesi6. 2998; Audrey's Angels 29 Gwen MacLaurin had the high triple for the ladies with a 620. Fran Edwards had the high single with a 248. Ross Gordon had the high triple for the men with a 727, and Bill Edwards had the high single with a 294, 0--0--0 George Maharis Rich. Bruce Boyd continued to be in top form as he put together games of 235 and 207 to take high double with 442. For the gals, Patti King took both honors with 165 single and 308 double. The Walnuts had high pinfall 1751 and jumped into first place. Those break- ing the 200 mark, Larry Gordon 223, Don Collar 20'7, Doug El- liott 223, Mike White 200. With one week left, stand- ing is as follows, Walnuts 4656, Maples 4408, Pines 4291, Oaks 4151, Birches 3857, Poplars 3768. JUNIORS Who is going to end on top? That is the question. A real battle in this group with top spots changing each week like a game of musical chairs. The Hawks with a full team on hand had the high pinfall of 1335 and jumped from fourth to first place, so you can see how close the race for top spot is, Steven Langridge took high double with 327 with David Walker right on his heels with 303 double. Dave Balser took high single with 191 followed by Paul Swatridge with a fine 174 single. Ruth Ann Readman took all honors for the girls with 160 single and 295 double. With only one week to go, as they head down the stretch here's how they stand: Hawks 3699; Wings and Rangers tied with 3550; Leafs 3440; Bru i ns 3439; Habs 3150. It's anyone's title so don't let your team d own be sure and be out to bowl this last week. BANTAMS The Greens continued to hold top spot, but the Whites are beginning to close the gap as they came up with high pin- fall for the week. Lois McLaughlin had the top single of 151, even topping all the boys. Come on group -- let's not let the girls take these top honors again! Bradley Sim- mons continued to be the stead- iest bowler in the league as he put together games ktf 120 and 119 for high double A-t. Others breaking the 10n mark were, Marlene Foxion io;`-.0, Bill Staight 118, Julie Foxfon 112 and 117, Jay MacLacrin 104, Tom McLaughlin 111, With only one wee?. to go-- just two more lines, here's the standing; Greens 22Kii, Whites 2002, Reds 1852, blues 1823. Can the Greens hold onto that lead? WHITECHURCH Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Zinn of Bright visited from Thursday to Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Zinn and family. Strikes (Sr. Sorry I missed the paper last week. Too much going on ov- er the holidays. However, I would like to mention that our Commercial League "Triplets" celebrated their birthdays on April 7, and to them, namely Frank Burke, Shirley Storey and Maxine Taylor, go our best wishes. Well, the tide has turned and our low scoring teams for the season have made an all-out ef- fort and come up with such good games, they are up in the top brackets. Argonauts are in first place with 9001; Ti-Cats WEDNESDAY NIGHT LADIES' LEAGUE Last week was the first night of the playoffs and Edna's Ter- riers came through with a total pinfall of 3133; Jean's Shep- herds 2955; Eva's Collies 2887; Bea's Hounds 2875; Elva's Span- iels 2726; and Barb's Poodles 2696. WEDNESDAY NIGHT MIXED LEAGUE Charlie Perrott picked up all the honors for the men, with a. high single of 222 and a high triple of 884. For the women, it was Betty Lee with the high single of 238 and Betty Hlavach had the triple of 382. The Corvairs are. still on top with a total pinfall of 10,649 followed closely by the Comets with 10, 390; Buicks 10, 130; Ponriacs 0,806; T-Birds 9,416 and the Fiats 7,183. 0-0-0 MEN'S TOWN LEAGUE The high single on April 11 went to Barry Fryfogle with a 336 and also a 327; Bob Brooks had a nice single of 323. Barry had the high triple with 830. The last night of the regular season ended in a very exciting way as Mac's Mercurys started the night with a 3 point edge over the Jumpin' Jupiters. The Mercurys, however,. ran into stiff opposition. and were blank- ed, while the Jumpin' Jupiters picked up 5 points to take the championship with a total of 132 points. The Mercurys had 130; Moon Doggies 112; Ex- plorers 98; Appollos 84 and The Geminis 74.
