games will begin a half-hour
after game-time, but if a sev-
enth game is played, it will be
seen in its entirety. All final
games will be seen from the
opening face-off. However,
any semi-final games that are

If you're the type that does
not 'dig' a bunch of overgrown
kids in short pants running
around after a defenseless little
black thing, then we may have
something else to interest you.
If you are fascinated by beauti-
ful women in elegant gowns,
handsome sun-tanned gentle-
men in tuxedos, then you should
be watching CBC television Ap-
ril 18 when the 38th annual
awards presentation of the Acad-
emy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences will be seen. This is
one of the biggest events of the
year in Hollywood, if not THE
biggest!
Though the big-name stars
who attend are becoming fewer
with each year, Oscar Night is
still a large part of the glamour
and excitement that make Hol-
lywood the movie capital of the
world. The show will be pre-
sented live from Santa Monica
Civic Auditorium in California
and will be seen here at 10
p.m. Bob Hope will again be
master of ceremonies, a role he
has had for twelve years, and
one which no one else in the
business can take half so well.
He is always coming on with a
sob story about never winning
an Oscar for his acting. But he
should worry; he's the kind of
8uy who doesn't have to know
how to act. The Academy
knows that, too, for they have
honored him with four different
awards throughout the years.
0--0--0
A number of the top screen
stars will appear on the show to
present awards. These include
last year's winner Julie Andrews
who will no doubt present the
'best actor' award; Dorothy Ma-
lone; James Garner; Gregory
Peck; Yvette Mimieux; Omar
Sherif; Joanne Woodward; Rex
Harrison, the best actor of last
year; Natalie Wood; Warren
Beatty; Jack Lemmon; Sophia
Loren; Peter Ustinov; George
Hamilton; Lila Kedrova, last
year's winner in a supporting
role; Lana Turner; Paul New-
man; Debbie Reynolds; Shirley
MacLaine; and Patty Duke.
The five songs nominated
are "The Sweetheart Tree" from
"The Great Race"; "The Sha-
dow of Your Smile" from "The
Sandpiper"; "I Will Wait For
You" from "The Umbrellas of
Cherbourg"; and the title songs
from "Cat Ballou" and "What's
New, Pussycat?"
Cyd Charisse will be featur-
ed in a production number, a
special salute to screen musi-
cals and choreographers. That
should be something to see; she
is a fantastic dancer.
Three pictures are expected
to walk away with the majority
of the awards, "Doctor Zhivago" ,
"Ship of Fools", and "Sound of
Music" . My bet is that, although
'Fools' may take many of the act-
ing awards, the musical that
starred Julie Andrews, 'Sound of
Music' will be champion in the
over-all awards. Time will tell,
so be watching next Monday at
10.
