Easter Theme
For Meeting
FORDWICH-The general
meeting of the United Church
Women was held in the Sunday
School rooms, in an Easter set-
ting, A tall purple and gold
cross was flanked at the base
with Easter lilies and gold can-
dles,
The worship service was tak-
en by Mrs. A, C. Coles and
Mrs, Lome Siefert Jr. on the
theme, "Holy Week and He Is
Risen".
Mrs. George Ashton, U. C.W.
president was in charge of the
business. The roll call was
"Easter". An invitation to
meet with St. Anne's Guild of
the Anglican Church on April
14th was accepted, The annual
garden party was set for Friday,
June 24. Westminster College
School for Leaders was announc-
ed for May 27, 28 and 29.
Mrs. Glad Edgar of Gorrie
gave an excellent report on the
London Conference U.C.W. re-
cently held in Wingharn, Mrs.
Harold Doig convened the pro-
gram on the theme, "The Sig-
nificance of Easter in the Mod-
ern World". She was assisted
by several ladies reading poems
and articles on Holy Week.
Mrs. Wray Cooper gave the
closing prayer. The spring
thankoffering service of the
U.C.W. will be held May 5th
at 2 p.m. with Mrs. A. Ferris
of the Wingham Salvation Ar-
my as guest speaker.
