Is W.I. Hostess
FORDWICH—Mrs. Wm. Mc-
Cann was hostess for the March
meeting of the Women's Insti-
tute. Mrs. Robert Gibson pre-
sided.
The devotions were taken by
Mrs. McCann. The motto,
"Duty makes us do things but
love makes us do better" was
discussed by Mrs. Crosby Soth-
eran. Roll call was answered
by "How to combat racial dis-
crimination".
The members voted a dona-
tion of $10.00 to Mrs. Wilda
Campbell, a polio patient in
Guelph Hospital, and a dona-
tion for new drapes to the com-
munity hall. The committee
named to purchase the drapes
was Mrs. Anson Demerling,
Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. McCann and
Mrs. Crosby Sotheran.
The report of the nominat-
ing committee, though incom-
plete, was presented to Mrs.
John Craig. Mrs. Stanley Bride
reported on the consumption of
eggs as revealed by the ques-
tionnaire that was circulated.
The topic, "The Canadian
Indian", was presented in the
form of a round table discus-
sion chaired by Mrs. Bride, as-
sisted by Mrs. Clare Harris,
Mrs. C. Sotheran, Mrs. Jack
Winkel, and Mrs. Gerald Rome
assisted the hostess to serve
lunch.

McIntosh entertained at her
home in Harriston in honor of
Miss Sharon Elliott for a mis-
cellaneous shower. Miss Myrna
Nuhn entertained at the home
of her mother in Gorrie for a
miscellaneous shower and Mrs.
Don Ruttan held a grocery
shower.
Miss Doris Carswell, Mrs.
Jim Timperley and Mrs. Ron
MeClement held a miscellan-
eous shower at the latter's home
in Fordwich.
Mrs. Doug Wildfang of
Cooksville and Mrs. Lyle Sim-.
mons entertained at the home
of Mrs. Roy Simmons for a
grocery and pantry shower, and
Mrs. Jack Gascho of Harriston
held a linen and kitchen shower
Contests and games were en-
joyed at each function and a
bride's book was given to Shar-
on at Miss Nuhn's home. Many
beautiful gifts were received for
which the bride-to-be thanked
all her friends and relatives.

Phyllis Bolander and Donald
spent Friday in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Nickel
left on Saturday for a two
weeks' vacation down through
the Sunny South.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pol-
lock spent the week-end in
Windsor where they attended
the silver wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pollock.
Mr. Michael Ridley of Lon-
don spent the week-end with
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ridley.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Eamy D'Arcy were Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Welsh and Barry,
Mrs. William Fioli and three
children of Toronto and Mr.
Wilfred Quinn of Mono Mills.
Miss Marjorie Foster of Tor-
onto and formerly of Fordwich
left on Saturday for a five
weeks' tour in Europe. They
took the train to New York and
from there will travel by boat.

ducks and a cow remindyou of?"
Little Boy: "Quackers and
milk."

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson In-
glis of Stratford visited with Mr.
and Mrs. James Inglis on Satur-
day.
Mr. Henry Perham, who has
been a patient at Palmerston
Hospital, has returned to the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene
Metzger.
Week-end visitors at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Wright were Mr. and Mrs.
Greg Buchanan of Toronto, Miss
June Wright and Mr. John Payn-
ter of Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Evans and
children of Uxbridge spent the
week-end at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Delmar Dickert.
WI Card Party
LAKELET—Seven tables were
in play at the weekly W.I. card
party last Thursday night. Prize
winners were Mrs. Len Harper,
Mrs, E. Haskins, Miss Audrey
Scott, Delmar Dickert, Charles
