For the men, it was Rick Irvine tak- ing the high single with 285 and the triple with 706. There are three more regu- lar nights, and as a result, only the top three teams, Comets 94, Corvairs 87 and the Buicks with 75, have a chance at the cup. The Pontiacs and T-Bixds are tied with 70 and the Fiats have 66. Special thanks to Gwen Mac- , Laurin, Paul Rintoul and Philip Adams for sparing for us. 0--0--0 COMMERCIAL LEAGUE No one seemed to be bowl- ing worth a hoot tonight. I guess ,4 we all shot our bolts last week, and need another week to re- cuperate. Spares tonight were Janette Scott, Peg and Fred Pep- per and Bill Johnson. Bill Johnston picked up the triple, with 800. Mac Ritchie was high man with a 338 single and a 766 triple. Team standings: Gwen's Go- phers 102; Dianne's Duffers 100; Sharon's Sharks 89; Fran's Fran- tics 77; Dot's Dashes 74; Aud- rey's Angels 62. 0--0--0 WEDNESDAY NIGHT LADIES' LEAGUE Elva's Spaniels are still in the lead with 103 points. Close behind are Bea's Hounds with 99 points and Eva's Collies with 95 points. Jean's Shepherds have 74 points, Barb's Poodles have 70 points and Edna's Ter- riers have 63 points. Louise Welwood captured both high single and high triple with 313 and 773. Hilda Brown had a triple of 710 and Marg Moffatt bowled a triple of '706. Congratulations girls. Bridge Club The Howell system was used: First: Mrs. A. R. DuVal and 0. Haselgrove; second, C. Hod- gins and B. Ortlieb; third, Miss Elizabeth Martin and J. Martin. BY P.L. BILL FULLER Feb. 16 Meeting - The meeting of the 1st Wing- ham Scout Troop was attended by 23 Scouts and five leaders. The night's activities were op- ened and conducted by Scout- master Fridenburg. P.L. Fuller broke the flag and inspection I followed. The entire meeting was de- voted to the passing of tests. It was announced that all Tender- feet must have the Tenderfoot requirements passed by March 19th and all P.L.'s must have their second class by the end of March. Scout Ted Ahara instructed the boys in Kim's Game and compass while Scouts Ron Hit- chings and Dave Robb passed various other tests. Scout Ray Archer lowered the flag and the troop was dismiss- ed. Feb. 23 Meeting Twenty-three Scouts and five leaders were in attendance. Scouter Russell led the opening ceremonies and Scout Barry Fish broke the flag. Inspection and the collection of dues fol- lowed. The duty patrol under Bruce Henry led a game of Dog and the Bone, after which Scouter Russell and the Troop played 'Kim Says'. The boys then broke off for a study period and time to pass tests. Scouter Fridenburg took five boys and passed their High- way Safety Rules, one of the harder second class tests. Other boys practised tumbling, or oth- Two Trophies at Wednesday 'Spiel Rinks from Goderich, Ripley, Lucknow, Wroxeter, Brussels, Belgrave, Seaforth, Dungannon and Wingham competed in the Country Curlers' bonspiel last Wednesday. John Graham's rink from Goderich won the Belgrave Hereford Farms trophy donated by J. R. Coultes. Members of his foursome were Jim Hawkins, vice; Arnold Fischer, second; Cam Bogie, lead. They won the 9 o'clock draw with 3 wins plus 15. Ivan Rivett of Dungannon was second and Ross Toman of Wroxeter, third in this event with the consolation going to John Nixon. The Lloyd Montgomery tro- phy was won by Murray Shiell, skip; Mason Robinson, vice; Jack Shiell, second and Roy Robinson, lead. They were the winners of the 11 o'clock draw with 3 wins and a plus of 20. Jack Bowman's rink had 2 wins plus 15 and Gordon Roul- ston's rink had 2 wins plus 6. The consolation prize went to the rink skipped by Russ Brad- ford. Belmore Rink in Harriston 'Spiel BELMORE--A Belmore rink comprised of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Inglis, Clark Renwick and Mrs. Maude Greenley of Harriston, competed at a mixed bonspiel in that town on Wednesday of last week. Though they lost their first two games 5-4 and 9-6 to rinks from Mount Forest and Harr!....an, they won their last game 8-6 over a Harriston rink, to win the consolation prize of the day. On the same day a men's rink skipped by Mac Inglis, competed at Chesley, but gain- ed nothing but an afternoon of fun! s rties er tests, in their Tenderfoot or Second Class. The Scouts are once again reminded of practice at the town hall, on Sunday at 2.00 p.m., if they want the Variety Show to be a success, PACK A The regular meeting of Pack 'A' Cubs was held on Tuesday evening at the Scout House. There were 27 boys present. We did miss our other five boys. The Grand Howl was led by Brown Sixer Tom Lee, Inspec- tion followed, and was in re- verse this time. The three sen- ior sixers inspected the three leaders and as a result each six- er group received five points. Guess the leaders will have to check themselves up, eh! Baloo was very pleased to hand out first stars to Steven Sallows and Jimmie Ritter, and also to pin a first-year star on Bagherra (Don Rintoul) and in return Bagherra was pleased to pin a second year star on Baloo (Louise Lloyd). A collector's badge was handed out to Michael King. PACK B The regular Thursday meet- ing opened with the Grand Howl which was preceded by inspec- tion and collection of bones. The Brown Six was the duty six. ACM Hugh led the boys through a rousing game of Submarines. Mrs. Williams put the Cubs through the Hot Potato and a chair relay and rooster fights were played. A few boys passed some of their first star tests during study period. Carl Bondi was welcomed in- to the pack by Mrs. Williams and presented with his white scarf. The boys were reminded of the variety concert in April, and practice in the town hall Sunday afternoons at two. 0
