Mrs. David Harper.
Mr. and Mrs, Burk of Toron-
to were week-end visitors with
Mr. and Mrs, Thomas Abra-
ham.
Mrs. Thilo Elste and child-
ren and Mr. H, Loeffler, all of
Locust Hill, spent Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Helfenstein
and Suzanne, Master Robert
Helfenstein, at time of writing,
is still hospitalized, but we
hope he is home by publication
time,
Mr. David Ketchen of Fer-
gus was guest speaker in the
Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
Six members of the senior choir
sang a special number.
Belmore will hold its annual
ice carnival this week-end in
the arena. Prizes will be award-
ed for best costumes and win-
ners of races. So cover your
own funny face with a funnier
one and mosey on out. Time
is S p.m. in Belmore arena.

Meeting of
Knox WMS
BELMORE- The Women' s Mis-
sionary Society of Knox Presby-
terian Church met last week in
the church, with the president,
Mrs. Ralph Dickson in charge.
Mrs. Donald MacAdam read
the Scripture passage, on The
Beatitudes, and hymns were
sung. Miss Mae Johann gave a
meditation on the topic, "Call-
ed For A Purpose". Roll call
was an item of interest from
The Glad Tidings.
During the business portion
of the meeting it was decided
that the Society would give a
dinner for ministers and dele-
gates who attend Presbytery
which will meet in the church
in March.
Mrs. Arnold Jeffray closed
the meeting with prayer.
UCW Plans Supper,
Social Evening
BELMORE-The February
meeting of the United Church
Women was held at the home
of Mrs. Harry Mulvey. Mrs.
Wilfred Johann was leader and
conducted a worship service on
the topic 'Prayer'. Hymns were
sung and a devotional was read
from "The Upper Room". Mrs.
Johann then read Scripture from
Paul's second letter to the Cor-
inthians, and led in prayer.
Mrs. Alex Sangster conduct-
ed a questionnaire on prayer,
and discussion followed. Mrs.
Earl Fitch was in charge of the
new study book and gave an in-
troduction to "Jesus Christ and
the Christian Life" which the
members will now be studying.
The roll call was "What prayer
means to me".
President Mrs. Fitch then
conducted the business portion
of the meeting. It was decided
to hold a congregational supper
and social evening some time '
in the early part of March. The
ladies will have a bake table in
the hall on the evening of the
supper.
Mrs. Johann led in prayer.

The community extends con-
gratulations to native boy Ro-
bert Harper, who last week
graduated as a member of the
Royal Canadian Mounted Po-
lice, Constable Harper, who
trained at Regina, expects to be
posted near Winnipeg. His par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Har-
per of this area, attended the
graduation ceremonies.
Word has been received here
of the death of Miss Bessie Stew-
art, who died in Toronto on
February 17th, after a brief ill-
ness. Older residents of the
community will remember her
as being the daughter of the
Rev, A. C. Stewart, a former
minister of McIntosh and Bel-
more Churches, She lived in
Belmore for a number of years,
and received her elementary
education here.
Mr, Elmer Zinn attended the
funeral of a cousin, Mrs. Mil-
ton Pfohl, in New Dundee on
Friday of last week,
Mr. Peter Newans and Mr,
Doug. McLeod have returned
home after spending a week in
the 'sunny south' (Florida).

BLUEVALE--The first meet-
ing of the Bluevale II 4-Fl Club
was held at the home of Mrs.
M. Johnston on Saturday morn-
ing. The pledge was followed
by the election of officers.
Chosen were, president, Donna
Mundell; vice-president, Trudy
Montgomery; press reporter,
Jane Campbell; secretary, each
girl taking a turn.
Notes were given by Mrs. M.
Johnston and Mrs, K. Johnston
on "The Finished Look", and
"Accessories", and the girls
were shown samples of finished
hats made by the leaders:There
are six members in the club,
two are new members.
It was decided to hold the
second meeting at the home of
Mrs. K. Johnston on March 10,
when the club name and book-
covers will be decided.
