Belmore Curlers
Compete in Area
13ELMORli — A number of Bel-
more rinks have been compet-
ing in area bonspiels, and con-
sidering the fact that they have
not been coming out on top,
they are good spurts to keep try-
ing, wouldn't you say?
Recently, in a mixed 'spiel
held in Walkerton, a rink com-
prised of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Ing-
lis and Mr. and Mrs. Mac Bad-
le, won two games, then lost
one. Last week a men's rink
skipped by Mac, with Bruce
Harkness and John and Ralph
Dickson the other members, lost
their first two games but won
the last, to win the consolation
prize at the Farmers' Bonspiel
in Palmerston. At the same
'spiel, a rink skipped by Clark
Renwick won its first two games
with Palmerston and Harriston,
and lost the third 10-4 to a Ilar-
riston rink. Other members of
that foursome were Harry Mul-
vey, second, Jack Inglis, vice,
and Leonard Harper, lead.
At the Gorrie bonspiel held
in Wingham last week, a rink
comprised of Mac Inglis, Geo.
Inglis, Ralph Dickson and Bruce
Harkness won the consolation
prize. And in Walkerton on
Wednesday at the Massey-Fer-
guson bonspiel, the Renwick
rink went down to defeat to
rinks from Kincardine (10-7)
sistant P. L, Paul Gardner, led Fordwich Rink a game in which each patrol,
in complete darkness, had to
locate a chalk circle on the Wins Bonspiel
floor marked with the name of FORDWICH--A foursome of
a Canadian city.
A study period followed, dur-
ing which Scouts tried passing
"Kim's Game" or knots.
Before closing a troop dis-
cussion was held when boys
were allowed to ask questions
on patrol and troop problems.
A. P. L. Gardner lowered the
flag and Scouter Fridenburg dis-
missed the troop.
A reminder to all Cubs and
Boy Scouts -- Uniforms will be
worn on Baden-Powell Day,
Tuesday, Feb. 22,
Plans are underway to hold a
variety show some time in Ap-
ril, the proceeds of which will
'elp to defray the cost of the
centennial tour planned by the
Saugeen District, of which the
Wingham troop is a part. A
further report will be given af-
ter the program has been com-
pleted.
