The Comets have moved back into first place with 82, followed by the Corvairs with 78; T-Birds 66; Pontiacs 65; Buicks 56 and Fiats 52, Special thanks to Garry Templeman, Terry Nethery, Paul Rintoul and Bill Johnston for helping the cause. 0-0-0 WEDNESDAY NIGHT LADIES' LEAGUE Nice to see all the regular bowlers out this week. Let's try and do this more often, girls. Jean King captured the high single with a 252. Hilda Brown bowled 634 for the high triple. Bea's Hounds are in first place with 92 points; Eva's Col- lies are giving them a good chase with 88 points; Elva's Spaniels are close behind with 85 points; Jean's Shepherdshave 69 points; Barb's Poodles have 56 points; and Edna's Terriers have 51 points. 0-0-4 COMMERCIAL LEAGUE There were several regulars missing tonight and the spares we thank are Janette Scott, Edith Walker, Peg and Fred Pep- per (who, incidentally are go- ing to fill in for the Schneiders for the next four weeks), Bruce Machan, Bill Johnston and Jack Sturdy. Things were rather quiet, Everyone must be set- tling down to get those all im- portant points needed for that trophy. Dot Templeman took the high single with 237 and Shir- ley Storey the high triple with 629. Old Jamie bowled his usual good games and took the high single with 311 and high triple with '795, By the way, Jim, thanks for that coaching. Seven more to go! 0-0-0 THURSDAY NIGHT MIXED LEAGUE Gwen MacLaurin was high lady last week with a 301 single and a 710 triple. Stu Leedham was high man with a 298 single and a 760 triple. Team standings; Gwen's Gophers 87; Sharon's Sharks 82; Dianne's Duffers 82; Fran's Frantic: 68; Dot's Dashes 64; Audrey's Angels 58. 0--0-0 MEN'S TOWN LEAGUE Mac's Mercury: are still in first place with 97, followed by the Jumpin' Jupiters with 87; Explorers 72; Moon Doggies 71; Appollos 64 and the Geminis 50, The high single and triple on Monday night went to Barry Fryfogle with a very nice 378 and 838. Honorable mention goes to Bruce Boyd with a 353 single and a 780 triple, Bill Ed- ward: with a single of 331 and Ernie Walker with a triple of 736. Barry: "What would you do if you were in my shoes?" BELMORE—With Old Man Winter really lashing out last week, hockey action was limit- ed to one game for each Bel- more team, after the cancel- lation of all Monday evening's games. The only Midget game was played on Friday evening in Belmore Arena. The score end- ed in a 1-1 tie, both goals be- ing scored in'the first period with Danny Montgomery as the Belmore star. League standings are as fol- lows: Gorrie, 5 games played, 3 win, 1 lost, 1 tied, 22 goals for, 18 goals against, 7 points. Belmore, 6 games played, 2 won, 1 lost, 3 tied, 26 goals for, 24 goals against, 7 points. Kurtzville, 5 games played, 0 won, 3 lost, 2 tied, 13 goals for, 19 goals against, 2 points. Goalies' averages, Gorrie, 3.6 in five games; Kurtzville, 3.8 in five games; Belmore, 4.0 in five games. Belmore goal-keeper is Rob- Resource Rangers To Reorganize The Resource Rangers are be- ing reorganized and the group will now be sponsored by the Wingham Sportsmen's Associa- tion. Meetings will be held the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Sportsmen's club house. The supervising council is made up of Ernie King, chair- man; Mac Sewers, secretary; David Cameron, treasurer; and directors, Borden Jenkins, Frank Caskanette, Doug Cerson and Richard Wehmeyer. Ross Wormworth, Depart- ment of Lands and Forests, is the technical director and in- structors for the Wingham group are Duane Fenwick and Fred Steinmetz, A meeting was held recently at the Sportsmen's club house when Tim Nelson of the Cen- tral Group, Toronto, addressed members of the Sportsmen's As- sociation, some of the fathers and boys who are interested in seeing the local group active again. Mr. Nelson presented the charter at that meeting. Resource Rangers follows an educational program of fun and learning in conservation, wood- craft, hunter safety, forest management, wild life, etc., and is sponsored on a provincial scale by the Ontario Forestry Association. The four main projects are Smokey the Bear (fire prevent- ion), Litter Pickin' Pete, The Tree Farmer and Resourse Rang- ers. The first Resource Rangers 'group was organized in Oak- ville in 1962 and there are now 15 districts in Ontario. Boys interested in the pro- gram should contact one of the instructors or Bob Deyell. Lawful drivers are LIVING drivers. in Steven. The only Bantam game, play- ed on Thursday evening, result- ed in a 8-2 win for Belgrave over our lads. Our scorers were Seth Rawn and Barry Hogg, On Friday evening, our Pee Wees were defeated '7-5 by the Kurtz- ville boys, in a game played here. Alan Dickson scored three goals with Shayne Gold- rich taking the honors for two. On Saturday morning Bel- more Squirts straightened a few Bluevale noses by clobbering their boys 14-2, Richard Inglis knocked in 8 goals, with Chris Steven right behind him with five. Brian Woolcock got one. Top scorers for the Squirts have been Richard Inglis with fif- teen, Chris Steven with eight, and Brian Woolcock with five. They have won four games, lost none, and have eight points, making them in first place in their league. On Saturday afternoon, the Squirts and Tadpoles played an exhibition game with Teeswa- ter, defeating them 7-4. Brian Woolcock and George Fischer each scored two goals, with single by Tim Steven, Peterin- glis, and Richard Inglis. Broomball On Thursday night Brussels and American Hotel broomball teams met in Belgrave with Brussels winning the game 2-1. Wallace Black collected both goals for the winners and Ger- ald Miller scored the lone goal for American Hotel. Whitechurch and Wingham played a tie game with neither team able to score even one goal. Action took place in Brus- sels on Monday evening when the Brussels team again beat American Hotel. The score was 1-0 with Dale Machan getting the goal. Whitechurch beat Wingham by one goal when those teams came to grips the same eve- ning. Bill Robinson got the Whitechurch goal and Wingham drew a blank. Weekly Euchre BELGRAVE--The Euchre Club had nine tables in play at their Wednesday night game. High lady was Mrs. Mark Armstrong; high man, Jesse Wheeler; novel- ty lady, Mrs. Robert Pardon; novelty man, Gershom John- ston; low lady, Mrs. Alex Lea- ver; low man, Clarence Hanna. Ron Deyell collected two of the Wingham goals with the others scored by Tom Deyell, Wally Houston, Steve Gorrie, Russ Allan and Denny Andrews. Judges selected the three star players during the game. Jim Mitchell of the Wingham team was chosen in second place.
