Strikes & Spares
Belmore's hockey teams
seemed to have luck on their
side much of last week, or as
we like to think, they are just
fine players. On Wednesday
evening in a game played in
the local arena Belmore Pee
Wees defeated Bluevale 8-6.
Three games were played on
Friday evening. In Belmore,
our Midgets defeated Kurtz-
ville 6-3. Scorers were Hugh
Leeson and Dave Millen with
two each, and Alan Ritchie and
Don Woolcock with one each.
Robin Steven was goalkeeper.

The Pee Wees went to Gor-
rie to play that team on Friday
evening. They, too, came out
on the winning end, edging
their opponents 6-4. The Ban-
tams didn't have such good luck
in Belgrave; they were clobber-
ed 7-0 by the Belgrave lads,
who really should have been
more hospitable!
On Saturday afternoon in
this arena the Squirts made
Fordwich sit up and take no-
tice. Little but mighty, they
charged forward to take the
game 8-0, Richard Inglis led
the parade with three goals and
Chris Steven, Ross Jeffrey, Le-
land Harkness, George Fischer
and Brian Woolcock each scor-
ed one. The goalie credited
with the shutout is Douglas In-
glis.
Games scheduled for this
week include Belmore Midgets
at Kurtzville on Wednesday eve-
ning; Bantams at Kurtzville on
the 21st; Pee Wees at Kurtz-
ville on the 19th; Squirts to
play at Mildmay at 10 a.m. on

Belmore Curlers
Are Active Again
BELMORE—With the curling
season again in full swing our
population has shrunk, as a
number of sportsmen take off to
various bonspiels.
On Monday, a rink com-
prised of Clark Renwick, Harry
Miller of Teeswater, Harry Mul-
vey and Jack McBurney, com-
peted for the Meiklejohn Trophy
at a men's bonspiel at Harris-
ton. On the same day, George,
Mac and Jack Inglis, and Wil-
liam Mclllwain of Fordwich
competed at Mount Forest. Un-
fortunately, both rinks came
home with little more than cold
noses, and an A for effort!
On Wednesday, it was a
horse of a different colour in
Mildmay, when a Belmore rink
comprised of Mac Inglis, Jack
Inglis and Bill Taylor and Den-
nis Rowley, both of Milton,
competed for the Club Select
Trophy in the 9 o'clock draw,
and won second prize, with a
score of three wins. Their
prize was a carving set foreach
member of the rink. Compet-
ing in the 11 o'clock draw for
Gophers 78; Sharon's Sharks70;
Dianne's Duffers 68; Fran's
Frantics 57; Audrey's Angels
53; Dot's Dashes 52,
the Adams Trophy, on the
same day, were Clark Renwick
and Harry Miller, Harry Millen
and Dr. P. J. Leahy of Tees-
water. They won two games,
but lost out in the last one.
One Saturday two rinks,
Clark Renwick, Harry Miller,
Fred Doubledee, and John Dick-
son; and Mac Inglis, Ivan Has-
kins, Jack Inglis and Tom. In-
glis, competed with two Mit-
chell rinks at the Governor-
General's Bonspiel in Centralia.
The Mitchell rinks won by the
close score of 22-21, and went
on to play Centralia rinks. And
our rinks? - "They sent us
tome!" said one curler, matter-
of-factly!

handsome electric tray.

Wingham's only goal.

time is 7 o'clock.
Pee Wees Win
5-3 at Lucknow
The Pee Wees came home
from Lucknow last Friday with
grins on their faces and a 5-3
win to their credit. We hope
the report next week, for the
scheduled game against Ripley
this week, will be as good.
Randy Hafermehl scored one
goal and Tommy Lee and Bill
Hilbert collected two counters
each.
