Institute would cater for the
annual curling banspiel to be
held in Belt:lore in February.
They also plan to have a booth
for the dance to be sponsored
by Lakelet W.I. and held in
Belmore later in the season.
The members agreed to send
money to be used to buy a
birthday cake for the Institute's
'adopted' girl at Orillia, Laura
Ann Rupert for her birthday,
January C;th. Members will al-

BELGRAVE—The Exnlorer's
met on Sunday morning during
the regular hour of worship with
President Brenda Johnston con-
ducting, the ,-pening. The story,
"From Despair to Hope - was
read by Mrs. Laura Johnston. A
discussion followed the story.
The call to worship was giv-
en by Carol Walker followed by
a hyr7-1 and Scripture lesson
read by Evelyn Bieman. Mrs.
Hopper read the meditation.
Gail Nlayberry received the of-
fering and Nancy Anderson led
in prayer.
Brenda Johnston conducted
the business. Minutes were
read by Grant Vincent followed
by the roll call. The treasurers

We are the ones to blame!

culprits! We complained, we
!shook our fists at the weather-
man, we even cried a little.
We had no ice and our boys
couldn't play hockey, our kids
'couldn't skate, and it just
:wasn't fair! If it was cold one
day, the sun shone brightly next
day and we were standing in
water up to our knees. So the
;weatherman complied and we
got cold weather, Boy, did we
get cold weather! And the Bel-
more ice froze gorgeously, and
'the little red woolies fluttered
!dramatically in the northern
breeze! The hockey players'
rosy cheeks almost glowed in
the dark and the onlookers sat
'like stuffed toads -- some for
days before they realized the

The Belmore -McInrosh-
IMildmay Hi-C Club held a
meeting last Sunday evening in
Mcintosh Church, Counsellors
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fitch were
in charge. A lively discussion
period was held, and games
were played.
Sympathy is extended to
members of the Inglis family
on the death of Mrs, Scott In-
glis in Wingham and District
Hospital last week.
Mr. Russell Press spent the
week-end at his home in the
village. Mr. Press, formerly
with Stelco Steel in Hamilton,
is now on the sales office staff
of Algoma Steel in Windsor.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd. Simmons
gathered in the Community Cen•
tre on Friday evening to honor
them on their recent marriage.
The couple was presented with
a gift, and Tiffins' Orchestra
provided music for dancing.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dick-
son visited on Saturday with
Mrs. Barbara Dawson, of Tor-
onto.
Some days it doesn't pay to
get out of bed! Saturday may
have been that kind of a day for
Wilfred Strauss of the 4th of
Culross. While parked at the
Belmore Arena on Saturday eve-
ning, his car invited a trouble-
maker or trouble-makers, who
decided to 'borrow' it for a spin,
(Ignition keys had been left in
the car.) The pleasure-seekers
didn't get far, though. The car
was later found in the ditch
against a tree near the farm of
Mr. Elmer Jeffray. Total ex-

Rev. Everett Ilawkes of Mor-
risburg, Ontario, is scheduled
to be the guest speaker next
Sunday afternoon in the Pres-
byterian Church here. Last
week's service was conducted
by Mr. Weatherall, a lecturer
who is presently enrolled in a
special course at Waterloo Uni-
versity. The men's choir sang
a special anthem.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Met-
calfe and Mr. Harry Metcalfe
attended the funeral of Mr. Ted
Newton, held in the Moir fun-
eral home, Gorrie, on Sunday
afternoon. Mrs. Laura Gowdy
of Wingham was a guest of the
Metcalfes' on Sunday evening.
