Mrs. Chas. Coultes
Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Charles Coultes of
Bluevale, who had not been in
good health for some time,died
in Wingham and District Hospi-
tal on August 24.
Born at Varna, Lauretta Reid
Snell was a daughter of the late
James and Grace Snell. In 1905
she married Mr. Coultes in
Bluevale. They farmed in the
Listowel area, Wallace Town-
ship until 1954, when they re-
tired to Bluevale.
Mrs. Coultes was a member
of Bluevale United Church and
its organizations, the Women's
Institute and Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by her hus-
band, a daughter, Mrs. George
(Grace) German of Clinton and
a grandson, William German.
She was predeceased by a broth-
er and a sister.
The funeral was held at the
S. J. Walker funeral home in
Wingham on Thursday after-
noon with interment in Lis -
towel's Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gordon Hall,
Raymond Elliott, Lorne Mc-
Cracken, Harry Elliott, Burns
Moffatt and Murray Campbell
of Ripley. Floral tributes were
carried by Bob Bitton of Wing -
ham and Bill German of Clin-
ton.

Neil McLean Dies
On Way to Work
--Buried Here
A native of Wingham, Neil
Netterfield McLean, of 17 Var-
sity Road, Toronto, died sud-
denly in Swansea while on his
way to work last Wednesday
morning, August 25. He had
been in failing health for the
past six years but was able to
continue his work. He was in
his 65th year.
He was the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Mc-
Lean. He attended public and
high schools here and for many
years worked with his father in
road construction.
Known to people in his age
group as "Mickey McLean", he
was a favorite with many in
Wingham as he was always in-
terested in his hometown and
friends. He pliayed hockey for
Wingham for rrrany years. Be-
ing over age at the time of
World War II, he was never in
active service but Mr. McLean
earned his commission as a ma-
jor with the 9th Greys Horse.
He was also an ardent Conserva-
tive.
Mr. McLean had lived in Tor-
onto for the past 30 years and
was works superintendent for the
Village of Swansea in Metro
Toronto.
On June 24, 1934, he mar-
ried Muriel Thornton of Blue -
vale in the United Church there,
who survives. He is also sur-
vived by two sons, Neil of Etobi-
coke and Roderick of Kirkland
Lake, one grandchild, and a
sister, Mrs. Elmer B. (Eleanore)
Walker of Wingham. A daugh-
ter, Susan, predeceased him.
A service was held on Fri-
day at the funeral home in Tor-
onto and on Saturday afternoon
Rev. C. F. Johnson conducted
funeral service in St. Paul's
Anglican Church here, with in-
terment in Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Reginald
Smith, Dalton Col, Hilliard
Jefferson, Jack'Wickstead, Jos-
eph Marshall and Wilson Thorn-
ton. Flower bearers were Har-
ry Town, Harvey Sullivan, Ro-
bert Jefferson and Earl Corbett.
Roderick, younger son of Mr.
and Mrs. McLean, was to have
been married oh Saturday, the
day of his father's funeral, at
Deer Park United Church in Tor-
onto
oronto to Miss Margaret Emerson
of Islington. The marriage
took place quietly on Tuesday
evening, August 31 in St. Paul's
Anglican Chapel, Toronto.
