couver, arrived last week and
will spend several weeks visit-
ing with relatives here.

er enjoyed several days' trip to
Brockville, Morrisburg, Upper
Canada Village and the Thou-
sand Islands.
Mr. James Brown of Sault
Ste. Marie spent all last week
at the home of his brother, Mr.
Wm. Brown and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Brown.

man will be sorry to learn she
is confined to Western Hospital,

DONNYBROOK—The August
meeting of the U.C.W. was
held at the home of Miss Lucy
Thompson with a good attend-
ance. Mrs. Murray Wilson was
in charge of the meeting. An
opening hymn was sung, Scrip-
ture read and Mrs. Ray Hanna
led in prayer. Debbie Jefferson
received the offering.
Mrs. Margaret Leddy had
charge of the chapter in the
study book and gave a very in-
teresting talk. Mrs. Edward
Robinson read a portion of the
book, "This Is Brazil".
Mrs. Stuart Chamney read
the minutes of the previous
meeting and gave a financial
report. Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson
conducted the business. The
hobo teas will be finished by the
end of August. Christmas cards
were on sale and a thank you
card was read. Mrs. Wilson
closed the meeting with prayer.
Lunch was served by the
hostess assisted by Mrs. Hilliard
Jefferson and Mrs. John Hilde-
brand.
OPEN NURSING HOME
FORDWICH--A large crowd
attended the opening of the
new nursing home in Fordwich
Sunday. Rev, G. A. Anderson,
Rev. Sheldon Wilson and Rev.
A. C. Coles dedicated the
building.
Everyone enjoyed a cup of
tea and refreshments in the
beautiful kitchen.
DAVID JAMES BOYD
DIES IN TIMMINS
Mrs. Hugh Gilmour received
word Sunday morning of the
sudden passing of her brother,
Mr. David James Boyd of Tim-
mins, Ont. in his 73rd year.
He was a former resident of
town and was born at lot 16,
con. 4, Culross. He is survived
by his wife, the former Evelyn
Balfour and sister, Mrs. Hugh
Gilmour and six nieces.

Hand Injured
In Baler
FORDWICH—Larry Clarkson,
16 -year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Scott Clarkson, suffered severe
injuries to his right hand last
week when in some mannerhis
hand became caught in the bal-
er.
He was taken to Listowel
Hospital where Dr. Munn at-
tended him and 21 stitches were
needed to close the wound.
