Mrs. Larry Marriner and lit- tle daughter are spending a couple of weeks with her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Munford at Gananoque. Mrs. Elizabeth Hainstock is spending two weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Trevelyn Hain - stock in Milton. Mr. George D'Arcy, of Van- couver, arrived last week and will spend several weeks visit- ing with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pollock and Mr, and Mrs. Howell Fras- er enjoyed several days' trip to Brockville, Morrisburg, Upper Canada Village and the Thou- sand Islands. Mr. James Brown of Sault Ste. Marie spent all last week at the home of his brother, Mr. Wm. Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bride of Don Mills spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Doig. Mrs. David Steinacker and two children of Caledon spent last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Steinacker. Mr. and Mrs, Bob Hibberd, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Harding and Mr. Art Forester attended the Orange service held in Bay- field on Sunday. Mrs. Harold Doig and Mrs. Warren Zurbrigg attended lead- ers' training course of the Unit- ed Church Women from Mon- day until Thursday last week, at Alma College, St. Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Ian Pitten- dreigh and baby daughter, of London, spent a couple of days last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Pittendreigh. Friends of Mrs. Norman Rea man will be sorry to learn she is confined to Western Hospital, in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cober of Willowdale visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cober. Mr. Robert Bride of London spent a couple of days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bride. Mrs, Elmer Millar and Shar- on spent several days last week with Mrs. Drew Aitchison, in Elora. Thompson Is U.C.W. Hostess DONNYBROOK—The August meeting of the U.C.W. was held at the home of Miss Lucy Thompson with a good attend- ance. Mrs. Murray Wilson was in charge of the meeting. An opening hymn was sung, Scrip- ture read and Mrs. Ray Hanna led in prayer. Debbie Jefferson received the offering. Mrs. Margaret Leddy had charge of the chapter in the study book and gave a very in- teresting talk. Mrs. Edward Robinson read a portion of the book, "This Is Brazil". Mrs. Stuart Chamney read the minutes of the previous meeting and gave a financial report. Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson conducted the business. The hobo teas will be finished by the end of August. Christmas cards were on sale and a thank you card was read. Mrs. Wilson closed the meeting with prayer. Lunch was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson and Mrs. John Hilde- brand. OPEN NURSING HOME FORDWICH--A large crowd attended the opening of the new nursing home in Fordwich Sunday. Rev, G. A. Anderson, Rev. Sheldon Wilson and Rev. A. C. Coles dedicated the building. Everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and refreshments in the beautiful kitchen. DAVID JAMES BOYD DIES IN TIMMINS Mrs. Hugh Gilmour received word Sunday morning of the sudden passing of her brother, Mr. David James Boyd of Tim- mins, Ont. in his 73rd year. He was a former resident of town and was born at lot 16, con. 4, Culross. He is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Balfour and sister, Mrs. Hugh Gilmour and six nieces. Hand Injured In Baler FORDWICH—Larry Clarkson, 16 -year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Clarkson, suffered severe injuries to his right hand last week when in some mannerhis hand became caught in the bal- er. He was taken to Listowel Hospital where Dr. Munn at- tended him and 21 stitches were needed to close the wound.
