Guild Makes Plans For Catering
FORDWICH--St, Anne's
Guild met at the home of Mrs,.
Rona Browne for the August
meeting. Mrs, Grace Browne
presided. The meeting opened
with a hymn and prayers.
Jean Dinsmore gave a chap-
ter from the study book, "Ser-
mon in the Trees". Correspon-
dence was read and the Guild
received a cheque from the
Golden Book of Charity for to-
kens sent in.
Roll call was answered by
13 members with a verse on
harvest and donating a get -well
card. Final plans and commit-

Of Embroidery
FORDWICH-Trinity W. A.
of the Anglican Church gather-
ed for their August meeting at
the home of Miss Elva Foster
with the president, Mrs. Elsie
Strong opening with a hymn and
prayers. The Scripture lesson
was read and an invitation to
attend Open House on Sunday
August 29th , from 2-5 in the
afternoon and 7-10 in the eve-
ning at the New Village Nursing
Horne, owned by Dave and
Jean Dinsmore was accepted.
Mrs. E. Hargrave read an
article on embroideries which
are done in Fredericton, N. B.
and are in use in Archbishop
O'Neil's church there.
Mrs. Peter Browne reported
on the Deanery meeting in Sea -
forth and Mrs. G. Anderson
gave a chapter from the study
book, "Heritage of Woman".
A quilting was planned for
the September meeting and
plans were made to assist with
lunch at the Open House of the
nursing home.
Mrs. Anderson was presented
with a gift as she will be leav-
ing the parish the end of Aug-
ust. Mrs. E. Ferguson gave a
short reading and the meeting
was closed with prayer. Misses
Ethna and Elva Foster served
lunch.

ding banquet on August 28th,
Plans were made for catering
and helping the W. A. serve
tea when open house is held at
the Village Nursing Home,
Fordwich on August 29, which
is being opened by Jean and
Dave Dinsmore.
Mrs. Browne closed the
meeting with prayer. Elva Fos-
ter conducted a contest and
lunch was served by the hostess
assisted by Elva and Ethna Fos-
ter.
The Bluevale ball team is to
be congratulated on winning
the trophy of the Morris Town-
ship School League.
W.I. Bus Trip
To Toronto
GORRIE--Ideal weather help-
ed make the bus trip sponsored
by the Women's Institute last
Wednesday a very pleasant out-
ing. Forty-one women from
Gorrie and surrounding com-
munities went on the tour.
First stop was at the Inter-
national Airport, Malton, where
they were conducted by a guide
through the magnificent build-
ing and saw planes landing and
taking off.
They visited the BlackCreek
Pioneer Village where a picnic
lunch was enjoyed and the
ladies toured buildings erected
between 1816 and 1832.
Casa Loma was the next stop
and after that Yorkdale Shop-
ping Centre where the ladies
had dinner.
Mrs. Wm. Forgie
Dies in Hospital
Mrs. William Forgie of
Wingham, the former Margaret
Taugher of Culross Township,
died in Wingham and District
Hospital on Sunday, August 1,
She was in her 93rd year.
She was a daughter of the
late Patrick and Margaret
Taugher. She married William
Forgie in Teeswater in 1901,
who survives, with one daugh-
ter, Miss Anna Forgie of Wing -
ham. A son, Edward, prede-
ceased her last December.
There are also three grand-
children and seven great grand-
children.
Mrs. Forgie was a member
of Sacred Heart Church, the
Catholic Women's League and
the Altar Society.
Requiem high mass was
solemnized at Sacred Heart by
Rev. John Mooney with inter-
ment in the R.C. Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Doug Leavens.
Lloyd Ellacott, Ed Irving, Wil-
liam Forgie, Fraser Forgie and
John Klopf.

GORRIE--Richard Thomas
Bennett died suddenly Thursday
morning, August 5th at his
home in Gorrie, He was in his
69th year.
He was a son of the late
Thomas Bennett and his wife,
Bessie Strong. He farmed on
Con. 12 Howick and then oper-
ated a sawmill in the Parry
Sound District from 1935 until
he retired in 1958.
Mr. Bennett was overseas
during the latter part of World
War I.
In 1:'24 he was married to
Christina Boyd of Howick, at
Brockport. N.Y., who survives
him with one son, John, Con.
13 Howick, and one daughter,
Mrs. Geo. (Beryl) Snider, El-
mira. There are four grand-
children, two brothers, Chester
Bennett of Gorrie, and William
Bennett, Timmins; two sisters,
Mrs. Pearl Patterson, Fordwich
and Mrs. Ross (Irene) Barrons,
Havelock.
He was a member of St.
Stephen's Anglican Church and
of the Fordwich Masonic Lodge
No. 331. Masonic service was
held at the Moir funeral home
on Friday evening.
Funeral service was in St.
Stephen's Anglican Church,
conducted by the Rev. G. A.
Anderson. Interment was in
Wroxeter cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bums Stew-
art, Wellesly Strong, Frank
King, Wilford King, Norman
Wade and James Vittie.
Receives Gift
From Ladybugs
GORRIE-Ruth Ann Taylor
was hostess to the Ladybugs
when the nine present answered
the roll call with two vegeta-
bles from their gardens. Janice
Elschner presided and Donna
Marie Strong read the minutes.
Judy King was nominated
commentator for the Achieve-
ment Day display in Howick
Central School on August 26.
Mrs. Melvin Taylor and
Margaret Ann Wilson led the
discussion on planning and ex-
hibiting flowers and vegetables
for Achievement Day.
Joyce Hamilton presented
Miss Wilson, bride -elect, with
a gift from the club.

Mrs. Clifford Brewer was in
charge of the program. There
was a lively sing song led by
Mrs. George Hetherington and
Mrs. Carl Johnston. Misses
Grace and Ruth Mathers sang
duets and Mrs. Ross Nicholson
gave a reading.
Mrs. Hetherington conduct-
ed an amusing contest with
contestants chosen from the
audience, Mrs. Brewer read a
message of good wishes written
in verse before the presentation
of the gifts.
The bride-to-be was seated
in company with her mother,
Mrs. Mel Craig, and the
groom's mother, Mrs. Harry
Workman, of Brussels.
Assisting in opening and
showing the many gifts were
Mrs. Murray Johnston, Miss
Alice Verbeek, Mrs. Brewer,
Mrs. Ross Nicholson, Miss Grace
Mathers.
Dainty refreshments were
served in the schoolroom, bright
with flowers.
Trousseau Tea
At Wilson Home
FORDWICH-On Saturday
afternoon and evening Mrs.
Cecil Wilson entertained at a
trousseau tea in honor of her
daughter, Margaret, bride of
this month. Receiving the
guests with Mrs. Wilson were
Mrs. Thomas McClement,
mother of the groom -to -be and
the bride -elect, Miss Sharon
Pollock who was in charge of
the guest book, also assisted in
inviting guests to the dining
room.
Pouring tea were Mrs. Nor-
man Harding and Mrs. Ida Gal
laher, grandmothers of the
bride -elect and groom -elect
respectively. Serving the
guests were Misses Dianne Kas-
ter, Kay Wood, Catharine
Grant and Mrs. Jerry Donegan.
Upstairs the bride's trous-
seau was shown by Misses Betty
McClement and Ronna Lee
Jones while Misses Irene Doubt
dee, Doris Carswell and Mrs.
Jim Douglas displayed the wed-
ding gifts.
Assisting in the kitchen were
Mrs. Stewart Strong, Mrs. Car-
roll Johnson, Mrs. Mel Allan,
Mrs. Dave Kaster, Mra. Glenn
Martin and Mrs. Wm. Hutchi-
son.
Edighoff r Trophy
Goes to Tavistock
Twenty-two sets of triples
entered the Edighoffer Trophy
tournament for lady bowlers.
Players came from Tavistock,
Paisley, Walkerton, Stratford,
Goderich, Chesley, Seaforth
and Palmerston.
Mrs. Quehl's threesome
from Tavistoclt captured first
prize and the trophy for the
second year. Mrs. A. Lunn,
Mrs. E. Webster and Mrs. Pat-
terson were second. In third
place were Mrs. R. DuVal,
Mrs. Lloyd and Mrs. R. Downie..
A Stratford group skipped by
Memorial Service
GORRIE--The Loyal Orange
Lodge and Ladies Orange Ben-
evolent Association will hold
their memorial and decoration
service on Sunday August 22 at
3 p.m. in the Gorrie cemetery.
Cecil Cullen, Fordwich, will
be the guest speaker. Every-
one is welcome.
Mrs. John Desmond
Dies in 92nd Year
A well-known and highly
esteemed citizen of Greenock
Township, Mrs. John Desmond
succumbed on Monday, August
2, in the Wingham and Dis-
trict Hospital, after a lengthy
illness.
Born in North Brant Town-
ship, September 15, 1873, she
was the former Mary O'Connor,
a daughter of the late Martin
O'Connor and Anne O'Hara of
Brant Township. In 1893 she
married John Desmond of Pink-
erton, and they farmed on the
12th Concession of Greenock.
Township for 55 years. Mr.
Desmond died in 1950.
Surviving are five sons, Mar-
tin of Wingham, Humphrey and
Charles of Detroit, Frank and
Thomas of Pinkerton; two
daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Mary)
Brophy and Mrs. James (Patri-
cia) Gibbons, both of Wingham.
15 grandchildren and 27 great-
grandchildren. A son, John,
predeceased her in 1931.
Mrs. Desmond was the last
survivor of a family of six, a
sister, Mrs. Thomas Pye, of
Walkerton, having predeceased
her by three weeks.
The remains rested at the
R. A. Currie & Sons funeral
home until Thursday, when
requiem high mass was cele-
brated by Rev. C. Bianchi in
Mary Immaculate Roman Cath-
olic Church, Chepstow, at
10:30 a. m. Interment was in
Chepstow R. C. Cemetery.
The pallbearers, three of
whom are grandsons of the de-
ceased, were Frank Gibbons of
London, Gerald and Desmond
Brophy of Wingham, Nonnan
O'Connor, Goderich, Morley
Fitzsimmons and Ilarold Don-
nelly of Pinkerton.
George Fowler
Was Active in
Masonic Order
Although George Davidson
Fowler, R.R. 4, Wingham, had
not enjoyed particularly good
health for the past six years,
his sudden death at his home on
Saturday, July 31 was unexpect-
ed. He was 60.
Mr. Fowler was a son of the
late Peter Fowler and Euphem-
ia. Davidson. He was born in
Wingham. He attended S. S.
No. 8, Turnberry and the Wing -
ham High School, and then be-
gan fanning, his Iife-time oc-
cupation.
He was a member of Blue -
vale Presbyterian Church and
an adherent of St. Andrew's,
Wingham. He was a member
and past master of Wingham
Masonic Lodge, local chapter,
Royal Arch Masons. Mr. Fow-
ler was also a member of the
Scottish Rite, The Perfection
Lodge and Rose Croix of Guelph,
The Consistory, Hamilton, the
Mocha Temple of London and
the Pal Mocha Shrine CIub of
this district.
Mr. Fowler is survived by
his wife, the former Dorothy
Winnifred Douglas; a daughter,
Mrs. William (Nancy) Craw-
ford of Toronto; a grandchild,
Cindy Lee Crawford; a brother,
G. A. Fowler and a sister, Miss
Isabel Fowler, both of Wing -
ham,
Rev. G. L. Fish conducted
service at the R. A. Currie &
Sons funeral home with inter-
ment in Wingharn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Wilson,
Dr. W. A. Crawford, N. j. W.
Grose of Listowel, Dr. D. R.
Roe of Atwood, William Reed
and Charles I lodgins. The flow-
er bearers were George Tervit
Sr., T. A, Currie, John Lee
and Murray Jenkins.
Mrs. Walsh won fourth and a
Goderich set skipped by Mrs.
Rathburn won fifth prize.
RECEPTION HELD IN
WHITECHURCH HALL
WHITECHURCH-A recep-
tion was held for Mr, and Mrs.
Robert Taylor in the local hall
when dancing was enjoyed to
music by Farrier's Orchestra.
The newlyweds were present
ed with a gift of money. Mr.
Taylor expressed gratitude both
for himself and his bride, the
former Lois Congram.

Hospital Insurance
will now
cover
dependent children
to 21st birthday
Beginning September 1, 1965, benefits under
the Ontario Hospital Insurance "Family" pre-
mium will be extended to•cover eligible un-
married, unemployed dependent children until
they reach their 21st birthday (rather than to the
19th birthday as in the past). This wilt apply,
also, to the supplementary 'semi -private' co-
verage for which some residents remit additional
premiums to private carriers through the Com-
mission.
Separate premiums will be required when
such dependants reach age 21, or marry, or
become regularly employed. Applications for
registration are available in hospitals, banks,
Province of Ontario Savings Offices and
Commission offices.
The Family premium, however, will cover a
person over age 21 who is dependent upon the
insured parent or guardian because of physical
or mental infirmity, previded he sr slits was the
Inured psrses's dependant befell egs 21.
Refund of Premiums
An unmarried, unemployed person who will
now become eligible as a Family dependant
under age 21 because of this new regulation, and
for whom separate premiums have already been
prepaid beyond September 1, 1965, is entitled
to a refund of premiums back to that date. Re-
tsrlds must be requested as this is the only
means of identifying those eligible. The form
at the bottom of this announcement is for the
convenience of Pay Direst members in claiming
this refund. Premiums prepaid through a group
(other than as an employee) will be refunded
through the group.
Note:
Commission literature Is being changed to show
the new age limit. In the meantime, please read
all references to age 19 in existing pamphlets as
"age 21".
