BELGRAVE--A double -ring
ceremony united in marriage
Wendy Noreen Fear, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fear,
R. R. 5, Brussels, to Delbert Or-
ville Nixon, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Isaac Nixon, R. R, 7,Luck-
now, on Saturday, July 31st at
2 p.m. at the home of Rev. and
Mrs. C. D. Cox of Teeswater.
The bride, given in mar-
riage by her father, was lovely
in a white street -length dress of
nylon net over taffeta with a
chantilly lace bodice, a scoop
neckline and long sleeves. Her
fingertip veil was held in place
by a coronet of seed pearls.
Around her neck she wore a
strand of real crystals that had
belonged to her maternal grand-
mother. She carried a white
bible with a cascade of red
sweetheart roses.
Rhonda Louise Fear, sister of
the bride, was her bridesmaid
and wore a street -length dress
of pale blue nylon over taffeta
featuring a scalloped, back -
buttoned jacket overlaid with
lace. Her headpiece was a
matching blue pillbox with veil
and white accessories. She
carried a nosegay of white
mums.
George Humphrey of Luck -
now was the bestman.
The mother of the bride
chose a box -pleated dress in
pink cross -dyed rayon nubbed in
pure silk and white accessories.
Her corsage was red roses. The
groom's mother wore a figured
silk dress of rose with white ac-
cessories and a corsage of white
mums.
The reception was held at
the home of the bride's parents
where the room was decorated
with pink and white streamers
and white bells. The head ta-
ble was centred with a three -
tiered wedding cake and white
candles. Assisting with the din-
ner were three neighbours, Mrs.
James Coultes, Mrs. Leslie
Bolt and Mrs. Garner Nicholson.
For a wedding trip to the
New England States Mrs. Nixon
changed to a navy straw -hat,
linen suit with chanel-styled
jacket and white accessories
and a corsage of red sweetheart
roses.
Guests were present from
Wingham, Ripley, Lucknow,
Blyth, London, Etobicoke, Tees -
water and Belgrave.
Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Nix-
on will reside in Stratford.

Mr. and Mrs. George Cook
have returned home from a
trip to the West Coast. They
.visited their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Lechinsky, and family of Re-
gina, and relatives at Brandon,
Edmonton and Victoria.
Visitors last week with Mr.
and Mrs. Garner Nicholson and
family were Mr. and Mrs. John
McCauley of Port Credit and
their grandchildren, Heather,
Alison and Duncan Macintosh.
Recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Cook and relatives
were Mr. and Mrs. John Mc-
Clarty, Don, Murray, Sharon
of Nesbit, Manitoba.
Mr. and Mrs. James R. Coul-
tes and Audrey spent Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Arm-
strong and family of Thomdale.
Grant Nixon of London is
vacationing this week with his
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs.
John Nixon and family.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Fear on Wednesday were
Mrs. R. H. Buller of Morpeth
and Mrs. Glen Meredith and
Shelley of Thamesville, and
on Thursday, Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Currell of Etobicoke.
Miss Judy Currell returned
home with them after spending
the summer here.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Han-
na and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mc-
Gill left on Thursday for a trip
to Canada's East Coast.

vin -Brick and Belgrave United
Churches on Sunday were taken
by the choir of Belgrave church.
Ralph Logan gave the call to
worship and Alan Bosman led
the responsive reading,
Scripture from Romans was
read by Wilford Caslick of
Wingham, guest speaker, who
based his address on the comic
strip called Peanuts. Choir
anthem was "Lord I Want to Be
a Christian" with the solo part
taken by Mrs. George Johnston.
The next two services at
Belgrave will be taken byClif-
ford Coultes and Alan Scott.
Shower Held for
August Bride
BELMORE—About 50 friends
and relatives, from points all
over Ontario, attended a mis-
cellaneous shower held in the
basement of McIntosh United
Church early this month, in
honor of Miss Sharon Horton,
whose marriage takes place in
late August.
Hostesses were Mrs. Ken-
neth Horton of McIntosh, Mrs.
Cecil Horton of Listowel, and
Miss Janet Horton of Toronto.
Contests were enjoyed, after
which the bride -elect opened
her gifts, assisted by her moth-
er, Mrs. Edward Horton of Bel -
more, and the groom's mother,
Mrs. Oliver Smith of Ripley.
Following a word of thanks by
the guest of honor, lunch was
served and a social time enjoy-
ed.
Miss Horton's marriage to
Ronald Douglas will take place
on Saturday, August 28th, in
the Belmore United Church.

TO GENERAL STORE
Belmore Library has been
moved from Cameron's Garage
to Diefenbaker's General Store.
Recently, a moving bee was
held by members of the board,
and everything is now in order
at the new quarters. Mrs. Dief-
enbaker has consented to be the
new librarian, taking over the
position vacated by Mrs. Cam-
eron.
Mr. Cameron's mother has
come to stay with the Camerons
for some time, necessitating
the move.
Several Showers
FORDWICH—Prior to her
marriage Miss Margaret Wilson
has been showered on several
occasions. A kitchen shower
was given by Mrs. Paul Adams
and at the home of Mrs. Dave
Kaster she received a grocery
shower. Mrs. Cameron Stewart
entertained relatives and friends
who presented Margaret with a
beautiful mirror.
Miscellaneous showers were
held at the homes of Mrs. El-
mer Harding and Mrs. Jim
Douglas in Margaret's honor.

Sympathy is extended to

on the death of Mr. Eldon Ren-
wick in Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don.

passed with honors her Grade 8
Piano examinations of the Roy-

Grade 3 Piano. They are pu-
pils of Miss Irma Eckenswiller
of Clifford.
Miss Sharon Cameron has re-
turned home after spending a
vacation with relativesinMount
Forest.
Mrs. Monkman of Alberta,
formerly Mabel Stokes of Bel -
more, has been visiting with
members of the Stokes family
in the area.

Busby are holidaying for two
weeks at Bolton.
Rev. Howard M. and Mrs.
Mills, and daughters Mary Beth
and Heather Lee, visited on
Thursday of last week with Mrs.
Alex Sangster. Rev. Mr. Milts
begins his duties as chaplain
and lecturer at Mt. Allison Uni-
versity, Sackville, N. B. , on
September lst. They will live
in the chaplain's house at 6
College St., Sackville. The
University will celebrate the
dedication of its new half -
million -dollar chapel on Sept-
ember 26th of this year.
Phyllis, Philip, and Peter -
John Pace, of Crystal Beach,
were guests during the past
week with Mr. and Mrs. Row-
land Ballagh and Lavonne.

W. E. Renwick Dies UCW Meeting at
In London Hosp. Johnston Home
BELMORE— Walter Eldon Ren-
wick passed away on Monday
morning, August 9th, in Vic-
toria Hospital, London, as the
result of a heart condition. He
was in his 62nd year, and was
born in Howick Township, a
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Renwick. He had farm-
ed in Howick all his life.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Mary Eadie; one son
Walter of Howick Township;
two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie
Tucker of Kitchener, and Mrs.
Cecil (Donna) Horton of Lis-
towel; four grandchildren and
one brother, Clark, of Howick
Township. He was predeceased
by three brothers and one sis-
ter,
The body rested at the Moir
funeral home in Gorrie until
Wednesday when remains were
conveyed to McIntosh United
Church for service at 2:30 p, m.
Rev. Douglas Steven officiated.
Interment was in McIntosh
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were former
neighbours, Ivan Haskins, Bruce
Harkness, Charles Scott, Leon-
ard Harper, Leonard Metcalfe,
and John Dickson. Floral tri-
butes were carried by nephews
of the deceased, Frank Renwick
Jim Renwick, Mac Inglis, Jack
Inglis, Donald Eadie, Mac Ea-
die, Lorne Eadie, and Eldred
Cathers.
BELGRAVE--Mrs. George
Johnston was hostess for the Aug-
ust meeting of the Evening Unit
of the U.C.W. Mrs. Stan Hop-
per opened the meeting with
the call to worship and prayer
and a hymn. The Scripture
lesson from Psalm 8 was read
by Mrs. Norman Cook, and the
Scripture from Hebrews 2 read
by Mrs. Jack Higgins. Mrs. Hop-
per led in prayer. A medita-
tion "Born to the Purple" was
read by Mrs. Cliff Logan.
Mrs. Albert Bieman was in
charge of the business, Mrs.
James Lamont read the minutes
and called the roll. The gen-
eral meeting was announced for
the last Thursday in August.
The penny collection was re-
ceived and visits to the sick and
shut-ins recorded. Mrs. Ross
Anderson was in charge of the
mission study on Brazil, assist-
ed by Mrs. James Lamont and
Mrs. Albert Bieman. Thehymn
"Dear Lord and Father of Man-
kind" was sung and Mrs. Laura
Johnston led the Bible study on
the resurrection of the dead.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
George Michie's group. Mrs.
William Coultes will be hostess
for the September meeting.

last week with Mrs. Al Cherny
and Peter in Cooksville.

ham attended services in the
Presbyterian Church here on
Sunday morning, when Mr.
Charles Congram of Wingham
was guest speaker. Mrs. Jef-
fray later was a dinner guest of
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Zinn.

WROXETER—The regular
meeting of the United Church
Women was held in the Sunday
School room of the United
Church.
Mrs. Ken Edgar opened the
meeting, the theme being
"Stewardship". A hymn was
sung with Mrs. Harvey Coup -
land as pianist, followed by
prayer. Mrs. Archie Miller
read the Scripture lesson and
comments were given by Mrs.
Ken Edgar. A very interesting
film "The Secret of the Gift"
was shown.
Mrs. Vern Hupfer took the
chair for the business and read
a very suitable poem on "Stew-
ardship".

ardship". A letter was read from
Miss Lillian Dickson telling
about the little nine-year-old
girl that this group has adopted,
which also included a picture
of her for all to see. The busi-
ness centred around the fall
bazaar which is to be held Oc-
tober 23.
Lunch was served by the Har
mony Group.

Misses Melany and Celine
DiNova of Scarborough returned
home with Mr. and Mrs. Wal-
ter Arscott, Valerie and Andrea
on Thursday and will spend their
holidays here.
Those from a distance who
called at the S. J. Walker
funeral home or attended the
funeral of John Dustan Beecroft
were from the surrounding cen-
tres and London, Guelph, Kit-
chener, Walkerton, Listowel,
Toronto and Birmingham.
