Visitors one day last week with Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Jordan were Mrs. Mary Wade of Wing - ham and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wade and family of Chatham. Mrs.Harry Parsons returned home on Saturday from Listow- el Hospital where she was con- fined for ten days, Mr. and Mrs. Howell Fraser of Fordwich celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on Monday, June 4th. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer William- son visited one day last week with Mr. and Mrs.Lenwood Ed- gar, at Mount Forest. Rev. C,F.Johnson of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Wing - ham, was guest speaker Sunday morning in Trinity Church. Mr. and Mrs, Doug Wildfang and Paul of Cooksville spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Simmons. Master Brian Wildfang returned home after spending the week with his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bride spent the week -end with Mr. and I`irs.Jack Riddell. Mrs. Bride remained for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Austin and Mrs. Pearl Patterson visited Mrs. Wilda Campbell in St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph, one day last week. Mrs. Elsie Strong, Mrs. Ver- na Galbraith, Mrs. Pearl Patter- son and Mrs. Norman Yarding visited Saturday in Wingham with Mrs. Martha Baker. Miss Elizabeth Armstrong and Mr. David Schneider of Kitchener were week -end visit- ors with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Armstrong. \Ir. and Mrs. Eldon Graham, Karen and John of Toronto spent the week*end at their home here. Mr. Edwin Jordan, Toronto, was a recent visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Jordan. Mrs, Ruby Foster visited over the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Foster in Toronto. Mr, and Mrs. William Sothern with Miss Sharon Elliott and Gary Sothern visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. William Mul- vey. Mr. Curtis Jordan spent last week at his cottage in Byng In- let. Mr. Fred Hambly spent a couple of days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Max Hambly in Kitchener. Miss Glenna Hibberd of Kit- chener was a week -end visitor with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hibberd. Friends of Mrs. Elsie Demer- ling will be sorry to hear that she was confined last week to Walkerton Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Camp- bell and little daughter of Win- throp spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hibberd. Mrs. Ruby Forster is spending a few days with Miss Mary Cor- bett in Toronto. Mrs. Robert Connell spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Duncan in Toronto. A special service will be held in Trinity Anglican Church Sunday morning at 10 a.m. when Mrs, Emmerson Hargrave of Listowel, and formerly of Fordwich, will be presented with a W. A. Life Membership pin. Rev. George Anderson will be in charge of the service. THE PIONEER GIRLS of the Baptist Church held an en- campment here with a number receiving awards. During the study period Mrs. Anderson spoke to the members of the parable of sowing seed; as to the kind of seeds sown in daily life by thoughts, words and deeds. The minutes of the last meeting were read and members were asked to keep saving for the Golden Book for Charity project. The treasurer's report was given and roll call, a par- • able, was answered by 14 meth• bers with two guests present. Mrs. Browne gave a reading on excuses and not reasons, for not going to church. Members agreed to cater to Nancy Jacques' wedding in Aug- ust, and Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Sothern and Mrs. King were ap- pointed the committee to make out lists. The president asked for vol- unteers to clean the church on Thursday. Guild members were invited to attend the Deanery meeting, to be held in Seaforth June 15. A get well card was signed by members and sent to Mrs. Detnerling, who is in hos- pital. Mrs. Anderson closed the meeting with prayer and during the contest period she spoke on the recent bus trip for the bene- fit of the ladies who couldn't go. Lunch was served by the hostess and Mrs. Florence Fos- ter. In Hospital FORDWICI I -Mrs. George Pittendreigh is confined to Lis- towel Hospital, having suffer- ed a fall at her hotne, causing a fracture of her right ankle. Request Authority To Accept Scheme Communications read at the Turnberry Township Council meeting last week included letters from John Norman, chairman of Turnberry School Board; the Department of Mu- nicipal Affairs; George Under- wood; The Department of High- ways and John Berry. A motion was made to re- quest the Maitland Valley Con- servation Authority to accept Scheme 20, rehabilitation of the Howson dam at Wingham, as a scheme of the Authority and that Turnberry Township be a benefitting municipality and accept a degree of benefit of 5% of the Authority share. By-laws will be prepared es- tablishing the Drainage Act in Turnberry to make money available to the ratepayers for tile drainage and authorizing a Confederation Centennial pro- ject, being administration of- fices in the hamlet of Bluevale. Rev. G. C. Mitchell discussed the union, telling of experienc- es in his own ministry and fore- casting a further union of churches. Mrs. Glenn Sellers and her sister, Mrs. John Congram, sang a duet. Mrs. Carl Johnston con- ducted the choir. Fleming Grainger BLUEVALE-Fi.eming Grain- ger, '74, of R. R. 2, Bluevale died at his home, Concession 2, Grey Township, Saturday, June 5. He had been in failing health for some time. Born in Howick Township, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Grainger, he had farm- ed all his life. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Earls, whom he married in 1919; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Jean) Workman of Brussels; a brother, Wilbert of R. R.2, Wroxeter; and three grandchildren.
