Ann Landers Dear Ann Landers: I know you are not an expert on birds but I am aware that you consult with authorites in every field. Will you please get some an- swers for my .husband and me? We are very upset. Recently we bought a para- keet. The man in the pet shop said the parakeet was a male. Well, last week 'Bob" laid an egg. A friend of ours who has para.4 keets told 'us the male birds have little blue circles around the beak and the female binds are light tan in that area. Bob had blue circles when we bought him but the blue seems to be turning brown, Is it possible that birds change sex? Do some male birds lay eggs? Please give us some an- swers. Thank you.—FOR THE BIRDS BUT NOT UP ON THEM. Dear For But Not Up: Change Bob's name to Bobette. If the bird was more than one month old when you bought stun the man at the pet store sihould have known are was a she. A lady parakeet has white circles around the beak. And you are welcome. 0--0--0 Dear Ann Landers: Please tell me how a wife can tell for certain that the affair between her husband and the Other Wo- man is finished? My husband has sworn on his mother's life that he will never again see Miss X. He has plead- ed with me to 'forgive him and trust him. I must concede that he has done everything within his power to reassure me of his fidelity—and I want more than anything in the world to believe him. But he Fooled me so com- pletely—and for so long—that my mind is filled with doubts. Is it possible for a man to change his ways? Please answer this in the paper. You are smart and I am stupid. I've proved it. DYES THAT DIDN'T SEE. Dear Eyes: One of the most heartening aspects of human nature is that people have the capacity to learn, and to im- prove. In the absence of solid evidence to the contrary it is always wise to give the other person the benefit of the doubt. Believe in your husband and let him know that you do. It is certain to bring out the best in him. 0--0--0 Dear Ann Landers: My grand- mother is a lovely person but she is getting very old and forget- ful. Sometimes her mind is sharp as a tack and then again she goes off into the past and it's hard to talk to her. Grandma has told me at least 100 times that she is going to leave me her gold earrings and her +fur cape. To be truthful, Ann, I don't want her earrings because they are for pierced ears. The cape is 15 years old. Grandma wore it to my sister's wedding five years ago and it was pretty ratty then. What I would really like is money — and Grandma has plenty, How can I get across to her (without looking grabby) that she can leave the earrings and cape to someone else and to Just leave me that lovely green stuff.—NEED'' NOT GREEDY. Dear Needy: You want me to help you tell Granny to skip the heirlooms and just leave money —and to do it in a way that will allow you to look like a sweet, sentiniental soul.
