Group DONNYBROOK -The June meeting of the U. C, W. was held Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson with a good attendance. The call to worship was given by Mrs. William Hardy, who had charge of the program. A hymn was sung and Mrs. Hardy led in prayer. Mrs. Ray Hanna read the Scripture lesson and Mrs. Hardy gave the medi- tation on "Courage". Mrs. Stuart Chamney read the minutes and the offering was received. Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson took charge of the business. A thank you note was read and invitations had been received from Westfield for June 16 at 8.15 p.m. and from St. Helens for June 17 at 2.30 p.m. It was also decided not to have a meeting in July, Mrs. John Hildebrand read a poem, "This Moment". Mrs. Murray Wilson read the chapter in the study book, "God and His Purpose" and discussion fol- lowed. Mrs. Stewart Chamney read a chapter on Brazil. Mrs. Hardy closed the meet- ing with prayer and lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. James Small and Mrs. Wesley Jefferson. News of Lakelet Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood, Kaye and Kirk visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Worden of Stratford on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert McComb and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gadke and family and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Demerling and family spent the week -end at Silver Lake. Many from this district en- joyed the water skiing compe- tition at Silver Lake on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Miller and son Kevin, of Waterloo, called on Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dettman on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs.Jack Inglis and children attended a shower for the Trimble -Horsley wedding couple at Orangeville on Friday evening. Mrs. Eldred Cathers and Mrs. William Hogg, of near Wing - ham, called on Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Greenley on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. R. J. Hiscox and son, James, of Woodstock, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jackson of Guelph and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Spar - ling of Mid -Huron Beach, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs.Jack Ferguson during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Renwick attended the wedding of Don- Bib9e Dedicated At Anniversary BELGRAVE-Sunday School anniversary service was held in Knox'United Church, Sunday. "See the Shining Dewdrops" was the opening hymn and Ralph Logan led in the unison Psalm reading. Scripture was read by Audrey Coultes. The children's choir sang, "Lord of Nature", followed by prayer. Rev. Arthur Jackson dedicated the new Sunday School Bible which was present- ed to the Sunday School by Lewis Stonehouse on behalf of the Stonehouse family, in BELGRAVE Mrs. H. J. Anderson and Hel- en of London spent the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. George Michie and family and attend- ed anniversary services at the United Church, Belgrave. Huron County Federation of Agriculture's annual worship service will be held on Sunday, June 20 at 3 p.m. at the Sal- vation Army Camp near Goder- ich. Ladies are asked to take lunch. Coffee and chocolate milk will be provided. Every- one IS welcome to attend. Mrs. Ted Fear attended the Rural Learning Association's first general meeting held in the King Edward Hotel, Toron- to on Thursday. Walter Scott and Oliver Jaques attended the Royal Black Knights meeting at Aurora and Mr. Jaques presented an honor- ary certificate to John Hirst. A double trio, Mary Ann Wheeler, Joan Bosman, Mary Ellen Walsh, Mary Grasby, Brenda Johnston and Nancy An- derson sang a number. ald McDermott and Diane Stef- fen on Saturday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Waterloo, and the dinner and reception which was held at Bona Vista banquet hall in Waterloo. Scodiitg 1,7104 activities Ja The regular meeting of Pack A Cubs was held at the Scout House with three leaders and 24 Cubs present. The opening exercises were taken by Baloo and Gene Porter of Brown Six led the Grand Howl. A group of boys sang '0 Canada' and 'The Queen' to complete a 1st star requirement. Inspection follow- ed and Richard Lloyd was chos- en to wear the special woggle. An out -door game of Cap- ture the Flag was played with great enthusiasm. Each boy passed his test for walking the plank, a 2nd star requirement. The boys returned indoors and to their sixes. Akela pre- sented Jeff Lockridge with sixer stripes and reminded him of his duties to the Green Six. A rousing cheer followed this pre- sentation. A short study period followed) and many Cubs passed various tests. Closing ceremonies were ta- ken by Baloo. Akela presented the House orderly and Guide badges to Doug Thomson and Toymaker badge to Robert Van- derwoude. The meeting closed with the Cub prayer then dis- missal. The Cubs of Pack A are re- minded to meet at the Scout House this Saturday, June 19 at 10 a.m. for a hike. Bring ei- ther sandwiches or wiener and roll for cook -out. Those boys who have ball practice will meet with Baloo at 1 p,m. at the Scout House. Party for Newlyweds ST,HELENS,On Friday even- ing, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Salkeld were guests of honor at a social gathering in Lucknow Anglican parish hall. The evening was spent in playing shoot with top prizes going to Mrs. Robert Lyons and Charas Mathers, Consolation prizes went to Mrs. Clarence Green and Robert Finlay. At the lunch hour, Donald J. Gaunt read an address of good wishes to the newlyweds, and John Pritchard and Al Hamilton presented them with a reclining chair and purse of money. Larry thanked their friends and neigh- bors. Trousseau Tea At Johnston Home WHITE'CHURCH-A trousseau tea was held by Mrs. Clark Johnston in honor of her daugh- ter, Linda. The house was gaily decorated with bouquets of spring flowers. Pouring tea in the afternoon was the groom's grandmother, Mrs. Reed of Kincardine and in the evening, Mrs. Laurette Johnston and Mrs. Charles Tif- fin. Displaying the shower gifts, hope chest, wedding gifts and trousseau during afternoon and evening were Mrs. Leroy Rin- toul, Mrs. Jim Lovett, Mrs. Eugene Gardner, Miss Joyce Procter, Miss Isobel Nethery, Mrs. Jim Young, Mrs. Robert Strothers, Miss Nancy Scott, Mrs. Irwin and Miss Janette Johnston. A dainty luncheon was ser- ved to guests by the hostess, whose helpers were Misses Lil- ian Bruce, Betty Ann, Shirley and Nancy Johnston, Ila Scott.
