A LISTOWEL WOMAN, Mrs. Edith Johnson, 67, died as a
result of this crash 10 miles east of Listowel. Also in-
jured in the car on the right, and now in Listowel Mem-
orial Hospital, is Norman Elliott, of Wingham. He is suf-
fering from a dislocated hip and other injuries. Two
people, who were also injured, as well as the dead woman
were riding in the other vehicle.

Mr. Lloyd Henderson, son
of Mr. W. James Henderson,
Wingham Junction, who is a
student at Toronto University,
has accepted a position with
Canada Airways at Lethbridge.
Mr. Elwell Webster has re-
ceived word that he has been
awarded a shield in the Dom-
inion Marksmen's competition.
Elwell had a score of 5988 out
of a possible 6000. Shooting
for this award one had to shoot
from three positions, prone,
sitting and off hand. This is
the fourth member of the Wing -
ham Rifle Club to win a shield.
The others are, Frank Sturdy,
George Mason and Malcolm
McCammon.
JUNE 1951
Ernie Miller, whose resigna-
tion as recreational director
for the Town of Wingham, took
effect at the end of May, has
gone to Listowel where he will
represent an insurance com-
pany. A delegation from the
town of Paris have approached
Mr. Miller in hope of securing
his services there as director
of recreation. They expect to
move their household effects
to Listowel shortly.
Elizabeth Stokes Weds at Gorrie

Stokes of Waterloo, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stokes

Carrol Irwin, of Kitchener,

The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a white
street -length organza dress
with scoop neckline, fitted bo-
dice and short sleeves, and a
full, pleated skirt. Her white
marquisette rose headdress with
pearl -trim held a finger -length
veil. She carried a white Bible
crested with a white orchid.
Mrs. Dane Griffith of Gorrie,
sister of the groom, was ma-
tron of honor. Her street -
length dress of yellow crepe
was styled with a scoop neck-
line, three-quarter length puff
sleeves and a sheath skirt. Her
matching flower headdress
held a short veil and she car-
ried a nosegay of white and
yellow mums with streamers.
The best man was Dane
Griffith and the ushers were
John Nixon of Belgrave and
Robert McArthur of Woodstock.
The bride's mother receiv-
ed the guests at the Commu-
nity Hall after the ceremony.
She wore a chocolate linen
sheath dress with pink and
beige accessories and a cor-
sage of pink and white carna-
tions. The groom's mother as-
sisted. She chose a beige
linen sheath with beige acces-
sories and a corsage of pink
and white carnations.

shower was held at the home
of Mrs. Cecil Grainger in honor
of Miss Bernice Grainger, Reg.
N, of Kitchener, formerly of
Wroxeter, About 20 Wroxeter
ladies attended and Mrs. Ar-
thur Gibson, assisted by the
ladies, compiled a humorous
wedding report.
The bride -elect received
many lovely gifts and a deli-
cious lunch was served.

Garden Party
GORRIE-Mrs. G. A. Anderson
spoke on "Springtime, the
Come -alive Season" at the
May meeting of St. Stephen's
W.A. , held at the home of
Mrs.Edward Newton. "Our
hearts must be cultivated the
same as a garden must be,"the
speaker said, stressing the need
for good reading, such as the
Bible, and other things that
bring forth fruit in life.
The president, Mrs. Gordon
Underwood, conducted the
"Come Ye Apart" service from
the Living Message. Roll call
was answered with a thought on
sowing. Mrs. Luella Sanderson
read Scripture.
Mrs. Earl Underwood read
the minutes. It was announced
that the Huron Deanery W. A.
spring meeting will be held at
St. Thomas' Church in Seaforth
on June 15, commencing with
communion at 9.30 a.m.
It was decided not to have a
garden party this year, with
the hope that each family will
make a contribution instead.
Mrs. Anderson closed the
meeting with prayer and lunch
