The de- 4 votions were taken by Mrs, John Winkel and the motto, "Plant seeds of character in your home and they will bloom in the future", was given by Mrs. Wil- liam McCann. Roll call was answered with "My worst insect pest and its Control". Plans were made for the historical Society meeting to be held in Howick Central 4 • 4 4. School on June 4th at 8 p.m. It was voted to remember the veteran at Westminster Hospital on his birthday the latter part of May. The East Huron District an- nual was held in Molesworthon May 20th. The ladies then went by cars to ldyle Wylde Farms at Clifford, where Wallace Matth- ews, proprietor, conducted a tour of his tree farms and enter- tained the ladies to lunch and tca on the lawn of his home, served by Mrs. Wallace Matth- ews and Mrs. Grant Matthews. Everyone enjoyed. a very de- lightful afternoon. Mr. and Mrs,Jack Coultes, Debra and Kevin of Dresden, Mr. and Mrs, Wilbert Schwich- tenberg, Lori Jane and Kevin of Port Elgin were holiday visit- ors with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes. Mr, and Mrs. Don Dirstein of Toronto spent the holiday with her parents, Mt.and Mrs. Russel Gaunt and on Sunday his parents, Mr.and Mrs. John L, Dirstein and Jacqueline of Han- over, visited at the Gaunt home, Mr. George Conn and Family Life, UCW Theme FORDWICH-The Afternoon Unit of the United Church Wo- men met in the Sunday school rooms. The theme of the meet- ing was "Family Life", with special emphasis on the home and mother. Miss Minnie McElwain and Mrs. Wray Cooper conducted the worship service with Scrip- ture passages being read by Mrs. P. Eurig and Mrs. George Pittendreigh. A duet, "The Little White Church on the Hill'; was sung by Mrs. K. Graham and Miss M. McElwain. The article, "Chatelaine's Mother of the Year", was read by Miss Violet Beswithetick. Mrs. K. Graham presided for the business. The roll call was answered with a thought on mo- ther. At the close a pot luck supper was enjoyed. Mrs. Betty Flannigan, who had visited with her Mother, Mrs. Torn Inglis, accompanied Mr. and Mrs, Dirstein back to Tor- onto. Mrs, Charles Robinson return- ed home from Wingham and District Hospital on Thursday and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Cope- land and Kevin of Creemore spent the week -end there. Mrs. Copeland and Kevin will re- main this week with her parents Mr. and Mrs, Robinson, Roy and Leonard James of Woodstock visited Saturday with their grandfather, Mr. Arthur Moore. Mrs. John L. Currie visited Sunday with her mother, Mrs. William Orr of Langside. Misses Barbara and Jean Campbell of London spent the holiday week -end with Mrs. Robert Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tiffin, accompanied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Brown of Lucknow, spent Sunday with Mr.and Mrs. Clark Johnston and family. Miss Linda Johnston is spend- ing her holidays this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Clark Johnston. Visitors during the holiday week -end with Mr.and Mrs. Gershom Johnston were Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Smith and Diana of Kitchener, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston and family of Listowel. Paul stayed overnight with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Robinson of Donnybrook. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Conn visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Scott, Ripley. Mr. George Conn of Toronto and Mr. Bill Jeffray of Belmore had a trip to Niagara Falls on Sunday. Mr. Charles Thompson at- tended Boy Scout camparee with the Wingham Scouts from TB Speaker Dr. Neville Lefcoe, of Lon- don, will address the annual dinner meeting of the Huron County Tuberculosis Associa- tion in Seaforth on Monday. His subject will be,"Research in Lung Disease Today". Dr. Lefcoe is a medical doc- tor from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennesee, and re- ceived his Fellow Royal Col- lege of Physicians in 1956. He has had extensive post -gradu- ate study and experience in the United States and Canada. Flowers on Anniversary WHITECHURCHTThe May meeting of Chalmers Presby- terian Church was held at the home of Mrs. Dawson Craig on Friday with an attendance of bine, The president, Mrs, Vic, for Emerson opened the meet- ing with spring poems, "That Silver Birch" and "For This Is May". The Scripture was read re- sponsively and the meditation was given by Mrs. Dawson Craig. Mrs. Frank Coulter gave the Glad Tidings prayer. The sec- ond chapter of the study book informed members on the or- ganization of the Foreign W.M. S, , and the formation of the Home Missionary Society, as told by their first presidents, and of the forming of the W.M. S. in 1914. The offering was received and dedicated by Mrs. Emerson. The minutes were read by the secretary, Mrs. Russel Ross. A letter announcing an allocation of $322.00 for 20 members was read from Mrs. D. A. Mac- Kenzie, treasurer of Maitland Presbyterial. The June meeting will be held at the home of Mrs.John- ston Conn. The roll call, "The origin of a hymn", was answered by the members. It was decided to have a cleaning bee on Wed- nesday at the church and ar- rangements were made for flowers for the church on Anni- versary Sunday, May 30. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Johnston Conn.
