RALPH JOHNSON presented the trophy on
behalf of the Wingham Advance -Times to
Ken Saxton, captain of Ken's Kats. The
Kats were the top team of the regular sea-
son's play in the Wednesday Night Mixed
League. From the left: Verna Ellis, Pat
Gadke, Eleanor Saxton, Ken, Barry Gibson,
Bob Angus and Ralph.

Wingham Bowling Alley Trophy, presented
by Walter Brown, for the top team of the

league Bowling Banquet
The Wednesday Night Mixed
Bowling League banquet was
held at the Legion Home last
Wednesday. Following a delic-
ious turkey supper, which was
prepared and served by the La-
dies' Auxiliary to the Canadian
Legion, a meeting was held to
elect the 1965-66 executive.
Jerry Timm will be the new
president, with Dorothy Turner
as vice-president; Norm Deyell,
treasurer, Verna Ellis, secre-
tary and Fred Lee will carry on
as press reporter,
Ralph Johnson presented the
Wingham Advance -Times Tro-
phy on behalf of Wenger Bros. ,
to Ken's Kats, as the winners

trophies to the Kats, Ken Sax-
ton, Eleanor Saxton, Barry Gib-
son, Verna Ellis, Bob Angus
and Pat Gadke,
Walter Brown presented Ken
Saxton with the playoff trophy,
donated by the Wingham Bowl-
ing Lanes for the high team of
the playoffs. The Kats also re-
ceived individual trophies as
playoff champs.
Ralph Johnson also made the
presentation of high average
trophies, which went to Ken
Saxton for the men with 235,
and Dorothy Turner for the wo-
men, with 174. Mr. Brown fol-
lowed up with the presentation
of the high triple trophies to
Marion Maclntyre with 628 and
Bob Angus, 745. Ken Saxton
ended the presentations with
the high single awards to Anne
Uphoff with a 314 and Bill
Mac lntyre with 300.
A few games of euchre were
played, bringing to a close a
very enjoyable evening and
bowling season.

LADIES' LEAGUE HOLDS
BANQUET AND ELECTION
The Wingham Ladies' Bowl-
ing League brought their sea-
son to a close with a banquet in
the parish hall of St. Paul's
Anglican Church on Wednesday
night. Seated at the head table
were the executive and cap-
tains with the President Lyla
Hickey acting as mistress of
ceremonies.
Following the supper several
trophies were presented. Tro-
phies for high team went to
the Wrens, Marie Lavergne,
captain, Gwen MacLaurin,
Joan Yeoman, Jean Elliott, El-
va Watke and Jean McKay.
Play-off trophies went to
the Orioles, Verna Steffler,
Jean King, Frances Edwards.
Pat Fryfogle, Barb Stainton and
Marg Keogh.
Gwen MacLaurin won the
high average trophy with 209;
high single went to HelenCase-
more, 318; high triple, Mary
Campbell, 785, Doreen Young
won the trophy for the most
improved bowler of the season.
All members of the bowling
league received bowling pins.
Joan Yeoman was presented
with the trophy for high single
in the play-offs, and Helen
Casemore received the trophy
for the high triple in play-offs.
DOUG COOPER, of Hamilton, caught a 14 Ib, pike off
shore at Silver Lake last week. It was 381/2 inches long
with a girth of 16 inches. He finally landed it by wading
into the water, as he had no net.
Doreen Young Won the door
prize.
Next year's executive will
be: President, Ruth Tiffin;
sec., Frances Edwards; treas.,
Marie Lavergne; press reporter,
Joyce Hodgins; Captains, Eva
Brownlee, Bea Shropshall, Dor-
een Young, Barb Stainton,
Jean McKay and Edna Congram.
The ladies played euchre
and lunch was served, supplied
by the captains. Prize winners
at euchre were Velma Balser,
travelling prize; Nora Finnigan,
high lady; Fran Edwards, high
lady playing as a man; Mary
Campbell, most lone hands for
a lady; Eva Brownlee, most
lone hands for lady playing as
a man; Marguerite Sweeney,
low lady; and Edna Congram,
low lady as a man.
