Rev. George A. Anderson of St. Stephen's offi- ciated. The bride is the daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. Thomas Vittie. The bridegroom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown, Wroxeter. Their attendants were Brian Hill and Barry Hill, Clifford, sons of the bride, The bride wore a navy crepe street -length dress with pink and white accessories and a corsage of pink and white roses, The couple left on a trip to Northern points. Baptize Children At United Church GORRIE-Rev. Fred W. Taylor received into the Gorrie United Church on Sunday by baptisms the following infants; Kent Ro- bert John, son of Mr, and Mrs, Robert Strong; Kendra Lynn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Robertson; Margaret Ann, dau- ghter of Mr, and Mrs. William Thornton; Andrew Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs, Doran Thornton; David Wesley, son of Mr, and Mrs. William Harrison Jr, The junior choir sang an anthem. Cherub Tompkins gave the story, Rev. Taylor chose as his text, Matt. 7: 24, "Building Life upon a Rock". Respect Should Be Taught by Example GORRIE-The May meeting of the Gorrie Women's Institute was held in the L. 0. L. Hall on Tuesday evening of last week when Mrs. Harry Rhame and Mrs. Robert Elschner were hostesses. Fifteen .ambers and three visitors were present. The new president, Mrs. Harry Rhame presided and min- utes were read by the secretary, Mrs. Clarence Sparling. The roll call, "Something I remem- ber that happened on my way to school" brought interesting responses. At the June meeting at Mrs, Morley Johnston's there will be a panel on education, conduct- ed by four teachers, when questions will be answered. Mrs. Mel Taylor presented thoughts on the motto," Let us teach our children to respect their community and the older citizen", Concern for other human beings and respect for others are things all children should be taught. Example is the best teacher. When a child is treated kindly he will learn to treat others with kindness, Mrs. Glenn Johnston told of the North American Eskimos, showing a map indicating the sparsely populated part of the country in which they live. She said no other race has ac- complished so much with so little to work with. So many things are made from the skins of animals. The Eskimos prob- ably came from Asia. It was announced that the East Huron District annual meeting will be held on May 20th in Molesworth, and on Friday evening, June 4th a general meeting of the Huron County Historical Society will be held at the Howick Central School at 8:15. Committees were named for the choice of the booth for Institutes to ex- hibit at the fall fair. Lucky numbers for the Dutch auction were held by Mrs, Ro- bert Elschner and Mrs. Clar- ence Stokes. Lunch was served by Mrs. Robert Elschner, Mrs. Harry Rhame and Mrs. Glenn Johnston. Presentation GORRIE-Mr. and Mrs. George Gregg of Willowdale, newly- weds, were honored at a pre- sentation in the Gorrie Com- munity Hall on Friday evening. Mrs. De Witt Adams read the address and Mrs. Doran Thorn- ton and Mrs. Thomas O'Krafka presented the gifts and a purse of money. Timm's orchestra supplied music for dancing. Corrie Personal Notes Mr, and Mrs, Ken McMich- ael and family of Wroxeter visited Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Grainger. Mrs. John Spiers and Mrs. Gordon Henderson of Palmerston visit- ed Sunday at the same home. Mrs, Howard Cowan return ed home Saturday from Palmer- ston almerston Hospital. Mrs. Norman Wade accom- panied Mrs, Harry Mulvey of Belmore, Mrs. Robert Allan of Lakelet and Mrs. Robert Mitch- ell of Molesworth to the Wo- men's Institute Officers' Con - Guests Attend U.CW. Meeting FORDWICH-The May meet- ing of the Fordwich U. C. W. was held as a spring Thankoffer► ing service with Newbridge and Mayne societies as guests. The worship service was conducted by the Evening Unit, Mrs. Scott Clarkson leading with Scripture reading and pray- er by Mrs. Robert Connell, Mrs. Mel Taylor and Mrs. Lorne Seifert, A solo was sung by Mrs. Jack Wilson. The guest speaker was Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft, president of the Huron Presbyterial U. C. W. Her theme was "Concern and Love for Our Neighbors". She was introduced and thanked by Mrs. Stan Bride. Mrs. George Ashton gave some thoughts on Mother's Day. It was decided to have a garden party on June 17th. The Afternoon Unit will cater to the C. G. I. T, Mother and Dau- ghter banquet on May 10th. Plans were made to obtain a warming cupboard for the church kitchen. A social hour was enjoyed at the close of the meeting. Fordwicli Personals Mr. and Mrs. Willoughby Patterson and children ofCooks- ville were week -end guests with Mrs. Pearl Patterson. Miss Ellen Leis of Listowel was a week -end visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Anson Ruttan, Mrs, Mary Sanderson of Lis- towel spent a couple of days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Dinsmore. Mr. Alfred Jones of Guelph visited over the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. William Sothern. The sympathy of the com- munity goes to Mr. and Mrs. Stan Forester in the death of their only daughter, (Merle) Mrs. Carl Bender of R. R.1, Palmerston, and to Mrs, Wil- liam Mann in the death of her father, the late Mr. Edward McCallum.
