Report from Queen's Park The report of the special commission on redistribution of electoral districts in Ontario has been sent to the Legisla- ture's standing committee on privileges and elections. Prem- ier Robarts asked the House to take this action on the plan to increase the number of House seats from 108 to 117 over Opposition protests, that it would put redistribution back in the field of politics. Prem- ier Robarts contends the stand- ing committee will just make proposals before resubmitting the plan to the original com- mission. The revised plan will then come before the Legisla- ture for final approval. The Legislature, in session since January 20 began a 10 day Easter recess Thursday with a heavy work load still ahead when it resumes April 27th. Still to be discussed are esti- mates of many major depart- ments and important legislation proposed by the Government. The preliminary report of the Legislature's Select Com- mittee on youth, of which I am a member, was tabled in the Legislature on Friday of last week. The committee's work will not, in all likelihood be com- pleted before 1966. The committee favours community colleges that would allow graduates to go on to Ontario universities. This would be helpful and would fill an obvious need. There are too few of our students advanc- ing to higher education levels as compared with what is be- lieved to be their individual potential. There would appear to be a need for the co-ordina- ting of trades courses, techno- logical training and opportuni- ties for degree courses with the status and under the authority of community colleges and/or rdwich Week -end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Anson Demerling were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Goldrich of London and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Longstaffe of Toronto.
