Several hours of river watching and a cruise over this section of the river by two boats and canoes failed to bring any results. Miss Anne Douglas, Ottawa, is spending the Easter vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Douglas. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Weir, Calvin and Karen of Toronto, spent Friday and Saturday with Mrs, W. Weir and Miss Gertrude Bush, and Mr. and Mrs. George Gibson. Norman Nixon and John Burton, Greenwood, N. S. , Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McKercher, John and Ann of Jamestown, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Griffith. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Duggan and David visited at the same home. Easter visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ingram were Mr, and Mrs. Eldon Ingram and family, Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Noble and family, Rothsay. Miss Hope Noble stayed for a longer holiday. Weir, visited Mr. and Mrs. Allister Green and family in Goderich on Saturday. Miss Bessie Wylie, Misses Maryanne and Cathy Bradley of Toronto visited Mr. and Mrs. J, Howard Wylie at the week- end. The latter two remained for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs, Jack Wilson and Dale, Port Rowan, were week -end guests with Mrs. Elizabeth lloffrnan. Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Sage and Eric, Listowel, spent Good Friday at the home of Mr. Ross roman. Mrs, A. Wearing and grand- son, Neil Livingstone, of Scar- borough spent the week -end at her home here. George Clark were Mr. and Mrs, Gordur, Rickard, Agin- court, Euchre Club Installs Officers BELGRAVE-The weekly euchre club met for its last game of the season in the Com- munity Centre with ten tables in play. High lady was Mrs. Annie Coultes; high man, Bert Thompson; low lady, Mrs. George Walker; low man, George Grigg. The novelty prizes for the nine of hearts taking a trick was won by Mrs. George Walker for the ladies with eight tricks and John Bail- ey for the men with six tricks. At this meeting the officers were installed for next year: Chairman, Herson Irwin; presi • dent, Mark Armstrong; vice president, Mrs. Cora McGill; secretary -treasurer, George Grigg; press reporter, Mrs, Winnie Smith. The euchres will start again on October 20. Former Resident Dies in London Thomas McKenzie Smith of 902 William Street, London, a former resident of Wingham, died suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 10. While in Wingham Mr. Smith was office manager at Western Foundry for about eight years. He was also organist in St. An- drew's Presbyterian Church. In 1921 he married Maud E, Fry- fogle, aunt of Clayton Fryfogle. He moved to London where he was purchasing agent for Supertest Petroleum Corp. Ltd., retiring from that company in 1956. At the time of his death he was employed as a security guard. He planned to quit work the following Wednesday, hav- ing resigned so that he and Mrs. Smith could have a vacation in Florida, Their holiday plans were cancelled on April 3, when Mrs. Smith broke her leg. She is confined to Victoria Hos- pital, where she was a patient at the time of her husband's death. They had no family. He is survived by his wife and a sister; Margaret, in Scotland. The funeral was on Tuesday afternoon with burial in Wood- land Cemetery. Mrs. H. McHardy Dies in Ottawa BLUEVALE-Word was receiv- ed last week of the death of . Mrs. Harry McHardy of Ottawa, on April 3rd. She and her hus- band, who predeceased her, were both born in Bluevale and lived for some years in Toronto Mrs. McHardy was formerly Isabella Burgess, daughter of the late John Burgess, for many years clerk of Turnberry Town- ship, and Elizabeth Richardson. She was the last survivingmern- her of a large family and was living in recent years with her niece, Miss Dorothy Burgess. The funeral service was held in Ottawa, with burial in Toronto. Cars Collide at McKenzie Bridge A two -car collision about T:30 on Saturday evening at the south end of the McKenzie Bridge resulted in about $200,00 damage to both of the vehicles • involved. The accident occurred when a south -bound 1957 car, owned and driven by John W. Carter of R. R. 6 Lucknow, was leav- ing the bridge and was hit al- most head-on by a 1965 model vehicle driven by John W. Fitch, of Wroxeter. Thelatter car was just starting onto the structure, going north. No one was injured. The accident was investigated by local police. Charges are pending. In- formation sheets were filled in and the election of officers was held: President, Marjorie Hopper; vice-president, Joyce Coultes; secretary, each girl to take a turn; press reporter, Wendy Fear. The members decided to call the club"Belgrave Green Thumbs". The roll call was answered by 16 girls. The subjectmatter and pamphlets were distributed and the next meeting set for April 27, at the community centre at 4:30. The objectives of the club were reviewed by Mrs. Clark Johnston. The type of book covers was discussed and the members decided to have them pale blue. The girls were in- formed that they will present a skit, "Let's Grow a Garden", at Achievement. Mrs. Johnston discussed planting a garden under the headings, health, food and economy. Mrs. Clarence Han- na gave some pointers on the garden plan. The meeting closed with Taps.
