Council will pay 25 percent
of the construction of Elizabeth
Street in Auburn providing the
road that was closed is re -open-
ed.
The clerk was instructed to
write to Inspector Kinkead re-
questing a meeting of council
and the County Council School
Consultation Committee.

TO RAISE FUNDS
WIIITECIIURCH-On Friday
evening the teacher, Mrs. Gar-
niss, and pupils of Currie's
School held a euchre party to
aid their funds for a bus trip.
There were 16 tables enjoying
the game.
Those with high scores were
Mrs. Jim Coultes of Belgrave
and Mr. Harold Congram. The
low scores were held by Mrs.
Gordon McBurney and Mr. How-
ard Walker. Those winning
prizes for having a birthday
nearest the date of the party
were Donald Pattison and Joan
Currie. Lunch was served by
the teacher and pupils.

80th BIRTHDAY
WHITECHURCH-On Sunday
Mrs. Maud Haggitt celebrated
her 80th birthday at the home
of her brother, Mr. Victor Em-
erson and Mrs. Emerson.
Present for the occasion
were her sister, Miss Lila Em-
erson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tif-
fin, Mr. and Mrs. Charles T i f -
fin and Mr.and Mrs. Russell
Ritchie. Mrs. Haggitt received
several gifts.

on Saturday morning following a good

Level
at Dam
WHITECHURCH-Albert
Coultes and Ernest Beecroft
made a trip Sunday evening,
after the heavy rain, to lower
the water level at the dam on
Silver Creek on the river side -
road property of Carman Den-
ton of Woodstock. Planks were
pulled spillways from the s illwa s in
order to save the fish which
were going over the dam be-
cause of the high water.

The new owner of Mr. Allan
Pattison's farm has been mak-
ing extensive alterations to
the farm home during the past
three weeks.
Mr. Carl Weber, Anne, Mar-
lene and Clair visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Chambers of
Harriston on Saturday and en-
joyed the afternoon in the su-
gar bush.
Chalmers Presbyterian
Church will hold its Thankoff-
ering meeting in the church.
