T. in their service in Gorrie United Church on Friday • evening fox World Day of Prayer. Cherub Tompkins and Jan- ice Elschner led the worship service, Mrs. Fred W. Taylor gave the story of Jabez. Marian Harding of Fordwich sang a solo, • "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands," accompanied on the piano by Donna Marie Strong. Over 40 attended the ser- vices. A social half hour was enjoyed and refreshments serv- o. ed after the service. Mr.and Mrs. Wesley Under- wood spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Alan Underwood of Uxbridge. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bee- croft and family, Belgrave, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hector Hamilton. Mr. Alex Hamilton, London, spent the week -end at his home. Mr.and Mrs. Earl Cudmore of Brussels spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Bill Nay and Mr. Nay. • Miss Shirley Bennett and Miss Maureen Bell of Toronto spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Bower Farrish and sons of Goderich visited relatives here on Sunday. Mrs. Ruth Corbett is now in a nursing home at kiarriston. Miss Corinne Rhame, Lon- don, spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rhame. Mrs. Wm, Bennett returned home Wednesday from Wing- ham and District Hospital after undergoing surgery. Mr.and Mrs. Morley Bell visited from Friday to Sunday with relatives at Preston. Rev. G. A. Anderson attend ed the monthly meeting of the Huron Deanery Clergy in Sea - forth on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Harris visited Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Halliday of Wing - ham. Mr. and Mrs. George Brown and Jean visited Mr.and Mrs. William Doig of Molesworth on Sunday. Mrs. Mabel Stewart is a pa- tient in Wingham and District Hospital. Gwen Hyndman, past pres- ident of the Junior Institute conducted election of officers for the Institute, Barbara Doig was elected president; Myrna Nuhn, vice president; Lynda Johnston, secretary and Judy King, treasurer. The county directors are Carol Robinson and Barbara Doig and Mary Doig was named district director. The two groups decorated the hall for a Sadie Hawkins dance with music by Jerry and the Jesters. The event realized $40.00, World Day Of Prayer GORRIE- World Day of Pray- er was observed in the Gorrie Presbyterian Church. Ladies from the congregations of Moles- worth and Gorrie Presbyterian, Gorrie Anglican and United Churches formed the choir with Mrs. Glenn Underwood at the or- gan. Mrs. Norman Dickson of Molesworth sang a solo, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands". Mrs. Clifford Pyke gave the address. Leaders assist- ing ssisting were Mrs. Gordon Moir, Mrs. Wm. Campbell, Mrs. Gor- don Underwood, Mrs. Russell Adams and Mrs. Gordon Camp- bell. Deanery AYPA Lenten Rally GORRIE-A Lenten Rally of the A. Y. P. A. member: of the Huron Deanery was held in St. Stephen's Anglican Church on Sunday evening. Rev. G.A. Anderson, rector, was in charge of the service of evening prayer, assisted by Rev. J. P. Gandon of Exeter. Following the service Rev. C. Black, diocesan chaplain of Listowel, showed films and dis- cussion groups were held in the Sunday School room. Lunch was served. Injures Arm FORDWICH-Master Billie Miller, 14 -year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Miller of Ford- wich, suffered a fracture of his right wrist while playing hockey at the Kurtzville Arena last week. He had a cast placed on it at Palmerston Hospital. Vote $50 Donation To College Fund FORDWICH-The March meeting of the United Church Women was an executive meet- ing, presided over by Mrs. Geo. Ashton. Final plans for the smorg- asbord supper in March were made. A donation of $50 was voted to the Westminster Coll- ege Fund and the registration fee for two delegates to the school for leaders at Alma Col- lege in August. It was decided to contact a painter and have a class room, kitchen and washroom in the church painted. In the future, bills will be presented at each meeting and then passed on to the treasurer to be paid. The social conven- er of the U.C.W. is to be re- sponsible for purchasing sup- plies for the kitchen. Announce- ment was tnade of the Huron Presbyterial to be held in North St, United Church, Seaforth, on March 24. Delegates will be Mrs. Geo. J J, J'•►.65 - Page 3 Fordwich Personals Mr. and Mrs, Stanley Bride attended the graduation exer- cises of the London School of Medical Laboratory Technology for their son, Robert, held on Saturday in the auditorium of Victoria llospital School of Nursing. Robert has been engag- ed by Victoria Hospital and will work in the Departnient of Clinical Pathology. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Stein- acker and two children of Cale - don spent the week -end with Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Steinacker. Mr. David Dinsmore was able to return home Saturday from Palmerston Hospital, where he has been confined for the past two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Gal- braith of Guelph visited Sunday with Mrs. Verna Galbraith and Mrs. Elsie Strong. The sympathy of the com- munity goes to Mr.John Lang- endoen and his family in the passing of a wife and mother. Mrs. Robert Gibson and Mrs. Anson Demerling attended the senior training school Sum- mary Day held in Seaforth Com• munity Centre last Wednesday. Mr. Bruce Williamson and Brenda spent Saturday here. Mrs. Williamson, Paul and Bar- bara, who spent the week with Mrs. Emma Williamson, return- ed to London with him. Mrs. Williamson also returned with him and will visit in London with them for a week or two. Friends of Mr. Len Wilson will be sorry to hear he is con- fined at present to Palmerston Hospital. Mr. Alex Collins spent sev- eral days last week with friends in Listowel and Mitchell. Wins Prize FORDWICH-A rink of local curlers attended the bonspiel held in Palmerston last week and were successful in bringing home third prize. The skip was William McElwain and mem- bers of his rink were Lloyd Nic- kel, Stanley Douglas and Cecil Wilson.
